Question Afraid of gaining weight

Hello I am new to this forum... But I need someone wh understands me. It has been 1 year & 3 months since my gastric bypass. I have done well, No real health problems, infact it almost like I never had the surgery! I can eat most anything in moderation without getting sick... I have never really gone through a dumping syndrome. Which I guess is a good thing but, to be honest it scares the hell out of me! I am afraid of getting fat again. I thought I would be happy at a size 12 but here I am still obsessing about the last 10 pounds and I am wearing a loose size 6. I am scared that it is up to me now. I find myself wanting to eat junk, then the next day I am back to myself. I am staying consistant with excersizing(3-4 days) but I love sweets.

I have been flucuating between 135 and 138 and I get really flustered when I at at 138.
I know I am being stupid but I think about where I was a year or so ago and I am in AWWWW. I dont want to go back there but sometimes I feel a little out of control. I dont know what I am looking for.. I guess someone who understands. Any tips of controlling the urge to eat sweets?

THANKS FOR LETTING ME BE WIERD!

Ahhh, sounds a lot like me!! I do get queasy with certain foods, and I basically cut out deep fried fare......but I am exactly like you in my struggles and in my daily panic. I totally understand....but so far, and I am a year and about 8 months out.....I have maintained overall. I'm not sure the answer longterm, but I just keep working it. Keep in touch....it's great to have someone to relate to.

Maintenance is so scary....I am freaking out lately because I haven't been doing well keeping my weight stable. I wish there was a magic answer, but it is really harder for me keeping consistant. My thing is I cut back the carbs when I am up and go back to basics....when I drop too low which isn't happening lately, I go up on the carbs. The hard part is kicking the carbs when I am up. Right now, I am uncomfortable with my weight..and am going back to basics. I actually feel better when I cut the carbs out. I feel sometimes like it is a "catch 22" situation.

maintaining is as much a journey as the weight loss.
I have a few rules I instilled early on.
1. Do not deprive
2. Moderation
3. One bite rule.
4. Learn to say no to your self.
5. Enjoy your meal.
6. Make healthy choices.
7. Do not drink with meals.
8. protein first veggies then fruit..last startch.
9. excesize...something..anything
10. always remember where youve been.

Default I agree...

one bite rule. Then walk away. If you are really having a hard time as you say staying away from the sweets maybe try stuff like Sugar free Italian Ice and things like that. They do have sugar free chocolates too but be very carefull as they generally have more calories than regular chocolate. Also don't beat yourself up for putting a few pounds back on as I think it's pretty normal. I had gotten down to 134 and stabilized for a while then gained back up to 149. Started watching what I was eatting and got down to 124 and then stabilized at 128 for the last year. Down to 119 now after revision. I too would still like to lose a few more pounds. I would like to get down and maintain 105. Why is that? Why can't we be happy where we're at? Good luck. And please don't beat your self up. You've come so far. A size 6 lose is probably a size 4. Wow... How cool is that? You've done a great job.

Thanks !! I have been living by your rules and I look forward to a healthy life journey. When did you feel your weight stabilize? When did you feel like you had to be careful or you would notice a flucuation in weight?? Thanks so much for your input. I appreciate it!!

I think my weight stabilized right after the hernia repair/ tummy tuck. I have maintained that post op weight with in 5 pounds ever since. I had wanted to get thinner, but my bod likes it where I am...I can accept that, I am curvy and unless I commit to excessive excersizing or drastic food changes, I am going to stay here, and you know what, I am fine with that, I did all the other things before and ended up 300 pounds so I am happy here...accepetance means alot!!
