Default Coffee Question

I am a little confused... (whats new)

My questions: Is it o.k. to drink coffee?

Is so does it have to be decaf?

I am confused because I had to see Sharp Memorials nutritionist (even though Dr. Potts did my surgery) who was not clear on this issue. I think Kelly of Dr. C's office said we could have coffee if we wanted but I am just not sure. I just want to know if any post-opers out there are able to drink it.

Thanks guys and gals, any advise is appreciated

I don't care what my surgeon says. I drink half a cup each morning. It's the only thing I found that has cured the stinky farts and constipation.

I tried his way, Fiber, fiber and more fiber. All I got was more constipated which lead to more stinky farting.

I'm now stink free!

I was told that I, personally, have to drink around 100 ounces of water. So if I get that in during the day, I treat myself to the coffee coz I work nights and I would go stark raving mad if I didn't!

I was told coffee is okay as long as it is decaf. Personally, I don't have much of an issue since I'm not a coffee drinker.

I drink a huge 35 ounce iced coffee (decaf) every morning with splenda and sometime a little unjury protein powder or vanilla protein powder, or skim milk. I love starbucks but I have found that their coffee is so much stronger with just a splash of milk that it hurts my pouch, even in decaf. So I cut back to when I am only at the mall for a starbucks and the rest of the time, make my own at home.

I just started treating myself to a sugar free vanilla latte with splenda from starbucks on the weekend only. It goes down fine...but then I up my water the rest of the day.

I was told that coffee is ok ( even in the Liquid stage) as long as it is decaf and not all sugared up... soooooo

I have about a half a cup (that's about all I can stand at this point) of hazlenut decaf coffee with a few drops of liquid sweetner.

Pouchie handles it just fine and it helps keep my sanity from just water and broth LOL

My surgeon says coffee is a no-no because it is a diuretic. It forces water out of your body. That's a bad thing for people like us who are in constant danger of dehydration. My doc says, for every cup of coffee you ingest, take in two cups of water.

This is true for caffinated coffee, not for decaf. Decaf is basically flavored water with about 20 calories in 25 ounces.
