Default update on my stricture

I posted this weekend about having a stricture.....well I went to the dr on monday and he decided to admit me for an endoscopy for the stricture and to keep me overnight. This actually worked out the best as I had driven myself upthere. My doc is great unfortunately the others in the hospital are incompetent. My doc want me on sedation drugs through the IV for the endoscopy and a liter of fluid started. Well his nurse (a fill in I don't care for) forgot to right down the fluid IV. Admissions had a hard time read where the doc wrote I would be going to overnight observation.

Fast forward to they are prepping me for the endoscopy and the nurse is saying "wow your skin is dry...you are probably dehydrated." Well the doc came in and asked where my second IV of fluid was and it changed to "oh your not dehydrated...your skin is nice a plyable."

They couldn't get the second IV in so my wonderful doc did it for them. I had my endoscopy and stayed overnight.

this morning they did my gi xray and found a block in my lower instestines however food and liquid is still getting through (very similar to having a hair clog in the shower, water still drains, just slowly). But he said since I was keeping food down I could go home.

I still giggle when I think of the "meals" they brought me in the hospital.

monday lunch: chicken soup, ice cream, jello and sweet tea
monday dinner: chicken broth 2 ice creams jello sweet tea and toast
tuesday breakfatst: yogurt, jello, ice cream

Interesting food choices :-) I had a stricture at 6 weeks, and one scope cleared it up. Keep ontop of the bowel thing....its important to deal with any changes before they get worse.

Glad you are able to keep food down again.

Liquid Draino should develop some products for us post-ops to keep our drains "clean as a whistle".

Thanks for the replys...can anyone offer more advice....I am still dry heaving and throwing up! Also I can only fit about 1 oz of food in my pouch. Today I had 1 oz of cottage cheese for breakfast (which I threw up 2 hours later) and for lunch I had moz cheese (maybe 1 oz if that) and I just threw it up too. The only thing that stays down fairly well is chicken broth.

Try dry Cheerios. I found they stay down well, even when OuchiePouchie is throwing tantrums and doesn't want to keep anything else down. Cheerios has lots of nutrients, almost no sugar, and the oats help with cholesterol. Good fiber too, to help your intestines function.
