Default Long time no see!

Hey Everyone,

Well I haven't posted on here for a long time, but i wanted to let you all know that I still read almost everyday and you all seem to be doing wonderful! I have been a very busy girl lately. I am currently studying abroad in Rome,Italy and having the time of my life. I can truly say that had it not been for gbs, I would not have had the confidence to do this program. I am having the time of my life meeting new people and taking in all of the great sites. I also have a boyfriend now, which is so wonderful. We met on St. Patrick's day, and he asked me out a month later after a few dates. He was a senior at my university, so he asked me to commencement ball. Shopping for a dress was such an exciting thing to experience, it wasn't like prom and shopping for a dress where i was stuck into getting whatever size they had. I actually went to any store and was able to get a size 11 dress!!! Words can't even describe the feeling!! Well, i am about 10 months out, and losing very slowly. It was hard to adjust to the halt in my weight loss, but I have come to terms that it happens. Well, I have to get back to studying and writing a paper, but I will continue to read your posts and try to comment more!

p.s. I will try and post a before and after pic!

Ashley:
Rome! I'm so jealous! I got married last year in Rome, and it has to be the most beautiful city I've been to in Europe. And the food - my God, the food - it's amazing! I don't think I would do so well with weight loss with all of that great food!

Congrats to you on all of your weight loss, taking such an amazing journey (studying abroad) - this is the time of your life - live it up!

Hey Ashley, it has been awhile since I have seen you aboard. I am so happy to hear that things are going so great for you. Ashley you look great. I think as time goes on, we discover that losing weight is just a part of our journey. It is also about that life we grab a hold of we never knew was there, or meeting people we would have never dared to speak to pre-op or looking into the mirror and finally spotting that person who has been hiding behind the fat all these years. So when you the weight loss stops you think of those great moments you areliving right now. I wish you much more success on your journey, I have the feeling this is just the start of many great things to come for you.

Carolyn and Denise,

Thanks so much! I am having a fantastic time in Rome, just trying to soak it all in! It's so true that you live your life all those years behind this "fat suit", and then all of a sudden one day its not there anymore. I still have trouble from time to time realizing that I'm a changed person, but it takes time. I mean i was "the big girl" for 20 of my 21 years of life!

Denise,

Congrats on your baby!! It's so exciting and the fact that you're having a little girl!! You can dress her up in big dresses and put big bows in her hair!!

Posts like yours remind me what a gift we have in this pouch! I wish I were in Rome again. I loved my time there (and in Florence) in the 1980's.

You're looking great in blue!

I understand it will take time to adjust to the new you and there is nothing wrong with that. I know it will be years before I reach where I want to be both physically and mentally. I walked into this knowing that this would be a life long process not thee overnight express. Enjoy the new change in you, everyday because you have come so far. Yippeee it is a girl. I still repeat it in disbelief because I wanted a girl so bad I just had that thought in the back on my mind that I would be punished(not a punishment but..) because I wanted a girl so bad that it would be a boy. I would have been excited either way just as long as our baby is healthy.
