Default I had a scope done yesterday!

It's been an interesting last couple of days here for me. I'm over 9 months out and have not had really any complications at all...the surgeon has actually said it's gone perfect for me.

On Tuesday I made chicken for supper which I have had many times and up until that night had never caused me any problems. After about 8-10 bites I started to feel really odd so I quit eating. I had pressure and pain in my pouch and chest. I waited an hour and then started to try to drink my liquids. I promptly threw the liquid back up but not the chicken and still felt terrible. Anything I tried that night would not stay down, was still throwing up liquid at 4:30 Wednesday morning.

I went to work yesterday and was telling a friend there about my problems and she told me to call my doctor. So I called him and he wanted me to come right away to the hospital to get checked out in the GI lab there, said I may need to be scoped for a possible blockage. I got there and found out I needed to be scoped. So under the meds I go and they found nothing blocking but they ended up taking 3 biopsies but did not tell me why they did that but said they will call me with the results. Is it normal for them to do biopsies? Also, now the surgeon is concerned about my rapid weight loss. At 6 months I had lost 105 lbs...now at almost 10 months I've lost a total of 134 lbs. Could this be why he did the biopsy?

The good thing since the scope was done is that the pressure feeling that I had since Tues is now gone and I'm no longer throwing up. But now the waiting for the results has begun. Also, another good thing about this forum is that I had read up on other people's stories about their scoping procdure so I wasn't scared at all about doing this. It really isn't all that bad to do. I don't remeber a thing about yesterday afternoon...the only complaint I have is a very sore throat, raspy voice and a slight headache afterwards and today but this is nothing compared to the pressure feeling that I had in my chest.

What was stuck could have passed and left the anastamosis inflammed and swollen and irregular looking. That is probably why they biopsied it. There are also many benign things that it could be. In terms of your weight loss...considering you are not at goal yet, is 29 pounds in 4 months excessive. It is slower than your first 6 months. It sounds appropriate to me. I say relax, avoid chicken, and I am sure it will all be good. Positive thoughts coming your way.
