Default Water hurts my tummy. :o(

I'm one month out. Every time I drink plain water, even flavored
water like Fruit 2 0, it hurts my gut. Not my pouch but it makes me
feel like someone punched me in the gut. I was just at Curves this
morning and drank some water out of one of the paper cone cups, it
hurt. I couldn't even drink the whole cup. I'm thinking of brewing
up some caffeine free tea and sweetening it with Splenda.

Anyone else not able to drink water?

I am able to drink flavored, but was not able to drink plain. There are many people that experience this. I think it fades away over time for most, but I just haven't tried it again. I used a lot of milk, tea, and hot cocoa made with sweeteners. I am able to drink larger amounts of warm liquids, so have used that a lot to get my required amounts. Good luck and keep trying things.

I also could not drink plain ole water. I found thatbecause I was nauseous in the morning, 1/2 peppermint tea and half water was really soothing and did the trick. I am not using so much peppermint tea anymore...just enough to change the ph balance in the water. I am too scsred to try plain water just yet, so I am easing the tea out of the misture

I find that I can tolerate tomato juice better than plain water. At a sitting, I can drink twice the amount of juice than water. The juice is acidic, so it ought to irritate my pouch, but it doesn't. Go figure. Pouches are funny things, aren't they?

I have been adding "True Lime" to water. I find it makes the water tastier and go down easier.

There is a free sample available on their website.

YepYep .. 9 Months after my surgery I still cannot drink water. I can drink cold beverages like ice tea or gatorade or such but I can drink warm/hot water like nobody's bizznezz. So I have resigned myself to that cuz it's the only way I can get 100 oz a day!

Good Luck!

Try room temperature water and sip real slow. If it's not a temperature thing, then cut the water with a bit of flavor. My theory is that the pH of most water is too basic, many I have tested back in chemistry class days was 7.5 or greater. 7 is neutral. Our tummy is used to acid as it already is very acidic at a pH of 3-4. In the fist 3-4 months, our tummy is still healing and it takes it time to adjust to the varying types of food and liquids we ingest. Some of it is a volume issue as I still can't gulp water. I need to sip, sip, sip as it will make my tummy hurt when I drink too fast.

What about sparkletts water? I hear you guys saying you can't drink regular water, is it because it isn't bottled? With bottled water the water is filtered better and some times minerals are added. Would that make it easyer to drink?

Hi Tiffany... I have tried the bottled water, adding stuff to the water, crystal lite etc etc. What it comes down to me for is I can't afford to buy all that stuff anymore and got tired of buying stuff that didn't work or I didn't like. Plain ol' hot water works for me and it's convenient. People think I'm quite odd drinking it in the summer, but I am getting used to people thinking I'm crazy!

Now, it seems some folks are the opposite and need things ice cold. But I am with you on this one. I do drink cold beverages, and have been able to increase it some as the weather warms. But for REAL volume I can drink warm so much better. It's the only way early on that I had any hope at all in getting the fluids in I needed. I don't do hot water though, I at least dip a tea bag and add some sweetener. But each person just has to read everyone's experience and figure out their own key to it......but eventually we all seem to get our routines and tricks down pat!
