Thumbs up Milestone...

I hit a huge milestone yesterday. I collected money and walked a 3.1 mile fundraiser for ALS. A dear friend and co-workers died last year, so this is very important to me. Last October when I walked it, I was in such pain and misery. My knees ached, my back was killing me, my hips hurt, my feet ached, I got blisters on the bottom of my feet, my head was sweating like I'd just come out of a shower - I swore I would never do that again. I just figured, I'd raise the money and not do the walk next year.

Well, it's amazing what 40 pounds lighter feels like! Yesterday, the only problem I had was with my right hip aching! I was walking on air when I discovered this at the end of the walk. Granted I was glad I was done, but the difference in how my body responded was amazing. I had made it through the walk without the pain and suffering of the year prior. Plus, we raised about 75K more than last year. It was a good day!

Thumbs up Congratulations!

Great job, Kim! We had a friend who had ALS as well - it's a terrifying disease. Thanks for all the work you do for the cause!

Hugs, B

Default Barbara,

Thanks for your support! You know, you're my inspiration! Maybe I'll even run one day. You don't know how ackward that sounds coming from my finger tips! The only running I enjoyed was running around bases playing softball.

You're right, ALS is terrifying and there is no cure. You have all your mental capacity while the body deteriates. It's just awful.

Kim,
That's awesome. I wanted to do the Breast Cancer Walk on Sunday but had other obligations. I plan on doing it next year. Congrats on your big achievement, hurts my feet thinking about it. Big Hugs.
