Default Stomach virus/flu, anyone?

Hi everyone! I just spent the weekend at my parents' house, and my poor little brother was suddenly hit with a horrible case of some kind of stomach illness. He spent a night in the hospital, where they tried to decide if he had food poisoning, appendicitis, or a bad stomach bug, and finally decided it was a stomach flu. He had a fever for over two days and at one point it was up to 104!!! Yikes! Thank goodness he's feeling a little better now - still has a fever and is not eating, but it's definitely better.
All of that leads to my question for you guys - has anyone here gotten the stomach flu or a virus since GBS? It TERRIFIES me to think of getting something like that...it seems like it would be so much worse than normally. I'm pretty scared right now, since I was around him, and touched things in his house, and it was very possible that he's contagious. Your answers will be very much appreciated. Thanks!!!

I did. A month out from surgery I threw up everything for a week straight. Just when we were considering a stricture, it went away. It's icky, but you get over it and move on.

That's good to hear - NOT that you went through that, but that you got through it and moved on! I don't know why I suddenly have this enormous fear that having a stomach illness will be so much worse after surgery. I guess it's because of all the weird complications that I have had. Things are just so different now, I never know what to expect!
Thank you for your response!!!

Omygoodness.. I am just getting over the stomach virus flu thingy! It was horrible. I had the liquid sh*ts for like 4 days! Not too mention all the other stuff. I thought I was gonna die!

I have never ever been as sick as this. The whole thing lasted 9 days total. I have been on antibiotic for a sinus infection and then it blew up into the flu I guess. Bleh.. I am sorta thinking it got so bad because I am not eating as much as I used too, cuz I really never get sick.. or never did anyway. Imma hafta start taking vitamin c too I guess.

Just got over one that was for three days last week, and it totally sucked. Make sure you drink as much as possible and get some rest. That's what I did and I am good to go now.

Bama glad to know your brother is feeling better. I honestly haven't been that sick since surgery but would imagine to be be very unpleasant. Just remember to wash your hands and trust me I say Lysol is a life saver.
