Well, I also have to confess that after 6 months post-op, I did not get the dumping effect. Maybe once or twice like a pre-dump, but more because of fast eating, rather than sugar or fat. I have also tried a little piece of chocolate, etc… but it is really not worth it.

I have personally learned to satisfy my cravings with Chocolate Protein Bars… it is not only rich like a Snickers, but full of proteins. It can get expensive, but there is always a price to pay in life.

Good luck

The sergury is helping you from not eating the whole cake so to say.

I can easily eat a snickers or a piece of apple pie without a dumping. But i can not have both at the same time, the segury is stopping me. (or i am stopping myself before i have both cause i don´t want to dump)

It is easy to take advantage of the situation and not work with the tool and have a lill snack extra many times a day. But you can not have ALOT at the same time.

The sergury is only a tool, the big job by stopping yourself from eathing things you want to avoid will (i´m sorry to say) be your own.

I agree with you.
Eating a small portion is what gastric bypass offered to big eaters like me

It's more about portion control and choosing healthier alternatives. Dumping will not make you stop the cravings or eatin the "wrong" kind of foods. Your body has a tricky way of getting around things that adversely effect it. Plus, as you get further out, your body has more easily adjusted and can tolerate a whole lot more than before.

Tammy , you are not alone. I have not dumped or gotten sick from anything, I am almost 6 weeks out and find myself constantly questioning if my surgery was done correctly. There are times, as sick as this may sound- that I want to get violently sick from something or dump so that I know my surgery is working and not just the smaller portions.
xoxoxoxo wishing you happiness , health and success always

According to my surgeon, not everyone dumps. Typically only 1 in 4 people have the ability to dump. So, do not think anything is wrong with your surgery, you may just be one of those people who does not dump.

Yep, it's not just you. I mainly dumped, if that was even really what it was, on fried food or eating too quickly. I do not dump on sugar either. However, I think the chips and Cheetos are still my bigger enemies anyhow. It's hard no matter how you look at it, but I too was kind of hoping to dump on sugar and bad fat.
