Default One Week Out Today

Okay, today is the one week mark. I was doing great till yesterday. Kelly called in the morning and, pleased with my answers, put me on cream soup. I had cream soup for lunch yesterday and ever since then I have felt yucky. Drained, yucky feeling. No fever, no shortness of breath, no dumping. I just don't feel good. So, today I wake up feeling a bit better. After being up for an hour I get breakfast, a tub of the pre-made sugar free jello. I can eat all of that for breakfast and it is all I want. By lunch I am feeling better, but not interested in food at all. Finally at 1:30 I heat up the rest of the cream of potato soup. Six bites and I tossed it. I can't handle cream soup. I have always been mildly lactose intolerant so I made the soup with water, but it didn't matter. So, what else can I try besides going back to broth soups? Or should I just try other clear based soups like chicken noodle and strain it? Argh.

Tricia,

Try some other type of cream soup. It may be the starch in the potato that is not agreeing with you. I did cream of chicken mixed with water. Good to hear that other than that you are doing good. Just remember the worst is over!

Default Tricia,

I agree with Pam. Try a different creamed soup. Cream of potato may not sit well with you, I didn't try that one right away. You may also not be chewing the potatoes if there are some in there?? very well. Also try maybe some refried beans or something or maybe a scrambled egg/about 1/2 of an egg will fill you or less. Good luck and let us know how it goes.. hope you are feeling better soon.. Hell week is pretty much over for you.. you made it!!! YAY!!!

Christina,

I am not on soft foods yet. Not till Thursday. I will try cream of chicken or something else then next time. May just go with vegetable broth for dinner tonight though.

Default Tricia,

Egg drop and wonton soup (strained) made my day when I could have them. You may be tired of clear liquid by this point. I agree with everyone, the potatoe has starch, which turns to sugar, it just might be too much for you right now. Try other cream soups mixed with water instead of milk. Cream of brocolli is good and even has pieces of brocolli (that you chew until there's nothing left). Chicken noodle mixed with water, strained, should be fine. I hope you can find something other than having to go back to clear soups! Yuck!

Wonton Soup............YUM!!! Now I know what I want for dinner. Now to call all of the chinese places around till I find one that has it. Thanks Kim!

Bridget.......thanks. Hell week wasn't that bad, probably cause I had all of you to tell me just what to expect. I don't like this feeling today, achy, blahy, very flighty feeling. Still having some pain from the incision, but I am trying to stay away from the Lortab. I get to drive if I do! Yippee!!!
