Think I can eat too much!!!
Hi. When I'm NOT vomiting, it seems like I can eat WAY more food than I should be able to. Like, for instance, today for lunch I ate a chicken pot pie, an entire one. I didn't feel particularly full or stuffed and I definately didn't vomit. For dinner tonight I had an entire salisbury steak, mashed potatoes and corn. Now normally, I vomit daily, and somedays it seems like I vomit everything I eat. I think I can eat way too much when I am able to eat, any body else have this happen or have a good explanation as to why sometimes I can eat like a pig, then other times I can't eat anything, then what I do eat comes right back up again? Thank you much!

Mary,IMO,That seems like a lot of food and your just a little over a month out.
I was not even on solids untill six weeks out.Maybe that is why your vomitting so much.
I think its alot of food and I am 14 months out.Maybe someone closer to your surgery will respond and shed some light.
Good Luck~

I think it dependds on the consistency and heaviness of what you're eating and we're definitely all different. I could probably eat an entire chicken pot pie- the small single servings ones. For dinner I've had a salisberry steak, mashed potatos and corn but it's probably 2-3 tbsp mashed potatos and 1 tbsp of corn. The heavier and greasier the food, the less I can eat (I can't even touch sausage which I used to love).
I can eat 1/2 of a garden salad from a fast food place- they seem to serve them huge though. I probably eat 3-4 oz of meat for dinner and 1-2 tbsp of some other type of side like some apple wedges, salad (maybe 1/2 cup) or some steamed veggies.
I'm not sure about the vomiting though - never had that problem (almost unfortunately ...)

Mary I had surgery on 4/18 and I can't eat that much. I think that is WAY to much food.

I guess I should state that the pot pie was 7 oz and I did only have like 2 TBL of mashed potatoes and maybe 2 TBL of corn. The salisbury steak had 10 gm of protein in it, which I desperately need. I definatley can't do heavy, greasy food, either. I'm worried that I'm undernourished and my body is telling me to EAT because I just don't get in the nutrients that I need. I know I need to up my water intake, too. Now, I am not a breakfast eater, so I am actually only getting two meals in per day. Am I worrying for no reason, or am I really just way overeating? I don't feel I've stretched my pouch or anything, so hmmm...

Well I guess you're better than me cause I can't eat 7 oz of anything n one sitting. I make sure I get my proten drinks everyday although I can not finish a whole bottle of Isopure. It takes me 2 1/2 days to eat 1 can of Stallone's High Protein Pudding.

OMG. I can't even think about 7 ozs of meat or anything like that. I can however eat of can of the stallone's pudding. THANK GOD. If not, I'd never get enough protein in for the day.

One month out I could eat two bites of meat and nothing else. Now that I am 7 months out I can eat more. I can eat a 9 oz frozen dinner no prob as long as it is soft. If it is really dence or over cooked it is really hard for me to eat much of it. Chicken is the worst for me, like eating rocks. Soft food goes down so much better. It scares me though, I eat a lot of a soft food and I think my pouch is getting big or something.

I can not eat that much either. I eat 3 times a day. Usually, a protein smoothie for breakfast or lunch and then chicken or soup for lunch and dinner. Usually, I can drink more of the smoothie than anything else. Also, softer foods like pudding, refried beans, etc. I can eat more of

Nahh, I'm not better than anyone. I just had surgery about six weeks (give or take) before you did. I'm almost 9 weeks post-op, which is almost two and a half months out if my math is right. And I wouldn't say that being able to eat so much is a good thing. That's how I ended up needing surgery in the first place. I saw where someone else said they can't eat chicken, and as a rule, I can't tolerate it either unless it's pureed. I did however tolerate the chicken in the pot pie well, because the chicken was very moist, I imagine.
