Mary:
My surgery was one week after yours, and I can't even THINK about eating that much food. I haven't vomited once since the surgery.

One thing - my surgeon has not cleared me to eat corn, rice, or doughy breads. I can understand the rice and doughy breads, but not the corn (but I'm still staying away from it).

I agree with Denise - has your surgeon had any post-op nutrition meetings with you? I've had two so far. If not, you may want to follow up with them to see where THEY think you should be with your eating. Only your surgeon knows how big your pouch is.

Good luck..........

Default Thanks for the advice and support

Hi! You've all had some really good advice and support. I thought I was eating more than I should be able to, so I'm glad I checked with y'all. Yes, it does take me a very long time to eat that much (about 30 mins), and it's not all the time I can eat that much. Just because I can, doesn't mean that I always do. Sometimes I can't barely stomach anything at all! Our clinic where I had my surgery though, told me my meals SHOULD take 30 minutes to eat. They also said they only want me eating three times a day, and not the more frequent, but smaller meals, which I think would work MUCH better for me, personally. It always amazes me to see how differently each clinic advises us for post-op guidelines.
I really don't want to sabotage my weight loss. I do attend the support group meetings at my surgery clinic, although they haven't covered this topic as of yet. I am leaving for FL today for my step-son's first Holy Communion, but when I get back on Monday, I am going to call the clinic and see about getting in and having this checked out. I am worried something is wrong, because of the being hungry all the time, the vomiting frequently (which I really think is because I eat too fast and too big of a bite, but that's just my opinion) and the being able to eat a larger amount than normal. Thank you all so much!

It does seem like a lot of food, but as it was mentioned it all depneds on what you are eating. the pot ppie may have washed itself through, because of the soupiness inside of it. it is too much food for 9 weeks post op though, definitely time to see the doc. also, try different foods possibly. eat protein first and you will probably not eat as much. i know you said you were not a breakfast type, but try something protein based in the morning and it will help get you through the day. this is a time to develop new improved habits. good luck and i hope everythign works out great!
