The good, the bad and the delayed
The Good: After orientation and ed session one, it is clear to me that my surgeon is phenomenal. He is the head of Trauma surgery at Albany Medical Center and does open RNY in two hours with a VERY low complication rate. I am very happy about this.
The Bad: Unfortuantely at the orientation they weighed us (no one warned me) and of course, I have gained some of my 10% back.
The delayed: So now I have to go see my dietician again to get re-approved for surgery. I can't get in to see her till May 9th and I can't see the surgeron till after that. That puts my date late in June - not good for my family or work schedule or for attending my best friends July 4th wedding...
I think I will put a call in to the dietician and ask if she can squeeze me in on May 2nd.
My only other hope is that since I know my surgery will be approved as long as my insurance company is really fast, I could still get in there early. Maybe I'll call them too and ask what their time table is like.
Oh - one funny story. I went into the orientation (which is an hour and 15 minutes from my house) and sat next to a very nice woman. As we were leaving I mentioned that I had over an hours drive. She said "so do I, where do you live?" I told her and she said, "So do I!" Here she lives less than two miles from me. Funny, huh? We're going to car pool to the support group meetings.
