Stricture or Constipation?
Hi all:
I've started to have trouble eating again. No matter how small a bite or how well I chew, I seem to be getting 'stuck' and have to vomit. I feel fine after...until I eat again. I'm thinking I have another stricture, but I also have been very constipated. Haven't gone in about a week and a half. Has anyone else had trouble with their pouch because of constipation?

I don't think constipation would make it difficult to eat...but I am sure other's on here will be able to help!

You made me spew out my water! The barfing is recent...just the last couple of days. The lack of pooping is a over a week now. I'm wondering if things are 'backed up' and somehow irritating my pouch.

Funny that this thread came up today as I just got off the phone with my doctor for this very problem. I am 4 1/2 months out and have never had any problems with my pouch. Lately, I have been constipated due to adding iron pills as I am anemic. I have been taking stool softeners but not hardly pooping at all. So the last couple weeks I have experienced nausea almost every time I eat or drink something which causes me not want to eat or drink which makes me even more constipated. It's a big vicious cycle. Anyway, the doctor said that the nausea could absolutely be related to my constipation. He also said that the pouch is a muscle and when you are under stress or have anxiety, that can also cause the pouch to decrease in size due to contractions and cause you not to be able to eat or drink much. I have not had any vomiting, just the nausea. He told me to take some Milk of Magnesia to get cleaned out and then lower my iron intake and up the stool softeners for a while. I would say if you are puking everything, to see the doctor but if you think it's constipation, try MOM or some stool softeners and see if that works. That's what I am going to try for now. Oh, he also said that we need to have a BM every 2-3 days.

Sounds more like a stricture. A good sign is when you can't keep anything down. My sister had one. I have been constipated since day one and have to take stool softeners and fiber pills. I only vomited a few times and that was from eating ground beef and chilli. Please check with your doctor to be safe.

Weirdness (Rated P for Poop as subject matter)
Okay...so I used a glycerin suppository about two hours ago. Worked in seconds and emptied me out. I just had fluids after that. I just ate two crackers with peanut butter and sf strawberry jam and no problems. Went down fine.
Hmmmm? Could this be constipation afterall.
Saw some chewable fibre tablets at the drug store today. Might be getting me some of those.
I'll keep you posted on this. In other words, I'll make sure you get the scoop on the poop!!!

Mabye the constipation made you nauseated and that was making you vomit. Hopefully the suppository cured it and you are ok. Keep us posted.

I have really bad constipation!!! im on pain killers for a VERY painful right shoulder. (Waiting to have the Dr read the MRI at my next appointment.)
Anywho, when I havent had a BM in 3 days, I get nauseated.. REALLY BAD! Sucks! I dry heave, I find that Im no longer capable of puking anything... but when you havent been eating nothing is coming out of the new pouch... just dry heaves. Dry heaves=stomach cramps! Like a charlie horse. I also get headaches. I feel your poopy pain sister!
I cant wait to have surgery to correct this unGodly pain!!!
Good luck to you, when in doubt call the doc! Pronto!
