Default Freaking Out A Little

I know not to compare myself to others because we are all different but this time I cannot help it. I have been following the What Did You Eat Today? thread to get some ideas for meals and stuff. I started to notice that people who have a similar surgery date to mine are able to eat more than me. I feel as though I eat nothing at all. For instance, my Mom made Lamb for Easter which I avoided like the plague, I figured it was too rich for the pouch. So I ate one spear of asparagus and I was stuffed. Is this normal? I feel like I have an XXS pouch or something. My nutritionist thinks I should be eating 1/4c of food at mealtime and I wish I could but I am not even close to that!

OK are you post of March of this year? I would say Lamb is a tad bit much for someone who is only 1 month post-op(MAYBE OTHERS will beg to disagree). You have to remember you are still going through a healing process. Did your surgeon provide a nutrional outline for you to follow post-op? I would suggest sticking to that and not getting caught up in what others are eating I am sure that can cause a lot of confusion for you. Every surgeons nutrional guidelines are different sometimes. I hope everything works out Laura. Don't freak out just follow what you were told to follow.

You are early out, so I wouldn't say what you are experiencing anything unusual. There is a big difference with what you eat vs. how full you get. The lighter the food, the more you can take in. The heavier the food, less you can put in. This is not always the same with everyone.....we are all unique. Just remember to put in good protein first, especially early on when you can't get in very much. Take it easy and enjoy the small pouch while it lasts.

My doctor doesn't give us a list of foods. He says first 2-3 weeks of liquids and soft foods, then introduce new foods up to 8 weeks and then eating most foods. I know that this works for some, others it doesn't. You really have to follow the docs orders and listen to your own body.

i think you need to update your signature with the year so we are clear but it sounds to me like ou are only a month out - and i could not eat hardly anything at a month out - i tried to compare myself to what others were eatting and i couldnt i just couldnt eat what others ate...dont puh it eat what you can right now - dont worry if your eating to little right now worry about that when you are past goal right now worry about not forcing yourself to eat to much!

I'm glad you asked this question, I am also very early out and eat very little, but to look at the scale, it wouldn't seem so. Any ways every day for me is different, yesterday for lunch I was able to eat about half of a turkey burger(only the meat) and about two teaspoons of cottage cheese, then for dinner I consumed about two tablespoons of chicken and 3/4 oz of cheese and a bite of baked potato. I eat very slow, at least 30 minutes for each meal. I feel like a cow some times because I just chew and chew and chew. There are some days that the food hurts so bad going down that I will go back to cream soups or even liquids for the day.
