Default Dumping question

Today I ate something that shouldn't have made me dump. I noticed that if I eat faster (I still chew well and nothing gets stuck and I stop at the right time), I get that dumping sensation of dizzyness, palpatations, and tired. This is on something that has no sugar. Does that happen to any of you??

I have gotten sick from eating too fast also....or I will be able to only eat a few bites, then am hungry very quickly (heads me into grazing). I really have to get on myself. Eating fast was one of my big pre-surgery issues with food.

In the beginning if it had too many carbs also would make me dump.

I am 5 years out and still get your symptoms when I eat fast, too many carbs or eat too much. I really thought these would go away, but for me they have stayed with me all these years. Not horrible, just bothersome!

Since I am 16 months out, I can say that many times there is no rhym or reason for dumping. I beleive it can even be affected by what you ate before the time you dumped.

IE: If I ate a bowl of cereal and milk and did not dump then later on I ate soup, I could have dumping symptons, even though the soup alone or the cereal alone would not have made me dump.

Go figure??

It is kind of like when a person is pregnant, so much is random!

Thanks for the reassurance. I have really not only stayed away from sugar, but carbs as well except for south beach wraps that are mostly fiber. I guess I need to slow it down. I find if I eat slow, I could eat forever and not get full.

That same thing has happened to me as well. Several times lately I haven't been able to get food before I got all hypoglycemic and weird. It really messes with my system--dizzy, exhaustion, copious heaves, both dry and "wet", and feeling (yet AGAIN) nauseous as hell. I'm pretty much no good the rest of the night.

Sometimes I am really good about getting my nutritional needs, and other times I don't/can't. I'm hanging on just like the rest of us, hoping that we will feel and look better.

I can get sick if I eat too fast. I use the 2 minute rule. Take the first bite, wait 2 minutes and if all ok, then continue. When I eat to fast.........I get a pressure in my chest, hot flashes, nauseated and a few times have the shakes. Once I vomit, its all better. With the 2 minute rule now, I haven't had any of these symptoms. I didn't think this was dumping, but eating too fast. None of the situations involved sugar.

I have found that if I eat sugar on an empty stomach, I dump easy. If I eat sugar on a stomach with protein in it, I dump less. I dump on things and I still can't figure out why. Other days, I can eat things just fine. I also noticed that some days I can eat a lot more than other days.
