Yes, and thank you. Sorry if it seemed if I was taking YOU to task. A bit of killing the messenger on my part. My apologies. Thank you for taking the time to type and post this info.

You may want to give the "True Lime" a try.

My surgeon had the surgery herself several years ago and when I went to see her Tuesday, I specifically asked about carbonated drinks. She echoed the moderation theme she is so fond of.

She herself has Diet Cokes (I never liked them personally) and said that it could "swell" the pouch, and cause gas but that it's a personal choice and to see how it goes for me.

Just my two cents.

Hmmm, great info on this thread! Now lets talk experience, I see lots of skinny people drink soda pop! MODERATION is key. Let me tell ya that when i want a coke, I have a coke. I dont have 4 a day like my MO days, but I may have 2 a month... if I want it..... and here i am 2 1/2 year out still maintaing my 120+ weightloss. If ya want it, have it... occassionally. Water is echhhhhh, change the PH Balance in it and it will be easier to drink... change it with a lemon squirt, or lime or Crystal light or instant tea.... dont forget s/f koolaid

Have you tried the Dasani flavored waters? The Rasberry one is very MMMMMMMM! I can't handle anything sweet either. Propel is grossly sweet to me, but the Dasani ones are great! They have a Lemon flavored water as well, I'm just a little scared to try that one yet.

Default Flavored water

Nestle has a flavored water that is Splenda-sweetened. I buy it at Costco, its like 32 bottles for about $9. I keep the case in my car since its too heavy to lift it full, and that way I alweays have water with me. Comes in a mixed case of 4 flavors-I love it!

I thought i would re-bump this post because the article that whitney reposted was so imformative. I know alot of folks have questions about the carbonated beverages.

Pre-op I would drink at least 5 diet sodas per day. My nutritionist had me stop during my pre-op diet because he said that once I had my surgery I'd be "sorry" if I didn't. Boy was he right! A month ago I accidentally took a sip of water that I didn't realize was carbonated and I thought my chest would explode. I don't miss it at all. Water or Crystal light does me just fine.
