Crude alert: Question about #2
Okay you guys - I'm at 2 1/2 weeks, and I have a question about going #2. After the surgery, it took about 5 days to "get things going" in that area - then I was fine - I was very regular (like before the surgery). Then, nothing for a week! I took a laxative last night, and today I was a freaking volcano.....which didn't make me feel any better, either. I also had a finicky pouch day - my friend Sybil didn't feel like tolerating anything - and I'm sure the two were related.
How many days between #2 for you guys - and is there anything natural that you can recommend other than taking the all-dreaded laxatives.
Apologize in advance for the nature of the question.......

I was told by my doctor not to take laxatives for about 2 months. I go every three to four days depending on the foods I eat. Cheese will do it for me, no need to take a laxative. But I also take Benefiber in powder form.

I'm a daily crapper and always was since day one of surgery. I've had a few bouts of constipation when I took Lortab after PS. I use Benefiber every day, drink lots of water, drink my cup of coffee each day, exercise, and try to add fruits and veggies in when I can. It helps to get your protein from non-animal sources like beans. I do watch the amount of soybeans I eat...the plant estrogens cause me to spot bleed when i eat too much.

smoothe move tea helps as does fresh fruit, which I don't think you can have yet.
Colace is something I heard works well also.
I am also a regular girl but 4 days after wls and I was ready to explode. I am not really sure what got things going but I feel your pain!
Good luck!

I think most of us have a problem in this department one time or another. I've been taking two Colace stool softeners every day-and it works for me.

I've never been a daily pooper. I'm more like a weekly pooper. After WLS it took 4 days before I went. Then it was everyday for like the next 5 days and then it stopped. I didn't have another until yesterday which makes 7 days since the last. Maybe I should be worried also.
The doctor told us we could take benefiber chewables or powder.

I am a daily crapper also . But with the meds I am on right now I am very ummmmmmmmmm lets say backed up. DR told me to take colace stool softner. It's not working real well so last night I had some SF ice cream worked like a dream for me!
I also wanted to add that early out I did not go every day may every 2 days. Don't forget your probably not eating anything of substance right now so most of it is soft and liquid.
