Default Morning Sickness-No I'm not! *L*

Okay, no I'm not pregnant but I wondered if anyone else experiences this? I'm 8 weeks post-op and almost every morning I wake up feeling nauseated and dizzy. I am diabetic and have been checking my blood sugars and they are fine. I also am off all of my diabetic meds so I don't think that's the problem. I am on some blood pressure meds but my dose has been decreased and my blood pressures are a little high but within normal limits. I'm having a hard time eating in the mornings because I just don't feel the best. Usually by lunch time I'm feeling better and I don't have problems eating. Anyone else have this in the morning?

Hi Beth - I am almost 3 weeks out and mornings are hard. I wake up pretty early, go potty and walk around and immediately start sipping my peppermint tea unti about 8ish when I realize the nausea is hunger. Then I eat an egg and saltines, wait at least 30 min and start siping again. Everything revolves around my new pouch right now. If it is a new thing, perhaps your doc can give you some insight?

I have it too. My sister always make jokingly refers to it as morning sickness as well. In the beginning I wasn't able to eat until after 12 without feeling god-aweful horrible but know I can eat a little earlier in the morning. Usually I will just have water or crystal lite or some warm tea until my stomach settles down.

Default Mornings

Mornings are also the worst time for me, but they are MUCH better since I got my stricture fixed. I believe the morning sickness is caused by mild dehydration. So, every time I'm even partially awake at night (to turn over, grab some of the damn covers back, kick the cat off my legs), I take a drink of water. Also, I start drinking water as soon as I sit up in bed. I feel better in no time. For some, however, it might be hunger....excess stomach acid can cause nausea.

I thought we couldn't have saltines...(of course I can't have them right now anyway)...Mornings are horrible for me also. I think it might be the dehydration thing...I do try to get a sip or two of water in when I go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I certainly don't go as frequently as I used to...wonder why, since all I do is drink!

Thank you so much for responding to my post. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one. I sure hope it gets better, though.

I don't think it's hunger for me, because even though I'm nauseated I do eat something in the morning. I don't throw up at all but it just doesn't taste good and I get real burpy. It may be the dehydration thing, even though I usually get my water in and I drink about 16 oz before bed. I don't wake up in the middle of the night but maybe I'll try drinking some hot tea before eating instead of drinking an hour after I eat. Hopefully it will help. I'm getting a little tired of this "morning sickness".

Thanks again, you guys have been a great help.

I experienced this "morning sickness" for a long time after surgery. I never could figure out what was causing it but did notice that it was way worse one week before my period during and for about a week after. I have gone back on the pill and for the last two months noticed that it doesnt seem to happen.

I drank tons of water so i know it was a hydration issue. I did ask my gyno and he said to give it time my body was going through a huge change, thats why he wouldnt let me get back on the pill, he wanted let the body balance out naturally.

If you do find out what causes it please post it, it will be interesting to know.

I was nauseated for almost 6 months straight. It didn't seem to matter what I ate or didn't eat, drank or didn't drink. But once I passed that 6 month mark, the nausea subsided.

For awhile in the mornings I found if I ate just a little bit of something (like yogurt or somethins smooth and easy) then later in the morning I could eat just fine. I think this is very common - our pouches are sometimes hard to wake up.

I use 1-2 of them and they help settle my tummy in conjunction with peppermint tea..
