Hi all,

I've been lurking around this website for about a month now and after phone calls to my insurance about qualifying, I keep getting dull answers that don't make sense, so I'm turning to you all

I have Tricare ins., which I hear is pretty easy to get approved, but my major concern is my weight. At 209lbs, I hardly see anyone on here the same weight and size as I am, which is 5'2. I'm supposed to be 100lbs over my "ideal weight" (Tricare doesn't go by BMI) and a co-morbidity. I get different answer as to what my "ideal weight" should be. The answers range from 101lbs to 127lbs. I just don't want to get my hopes up if I'm not 100lbs over...I am scheduled to go to a seminar here in houston next month and will ask the same question there too, but I'm just so anxious!

I've researched the pros and cons of the surgery, obesityhelp.com was able to provide many experiences, good and bad, and I have decided the surgery is def for me. I have been overweight my whole life and tried diet after diet. I was just diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis, which is a foot condition caused by being overweight. I have yet talked to my Dr about WLS, but am too scared to for some reason, I guess b/c I'm scared he'll say I am underweight. I don't have any other major co-morbidities other then my feet/knees/back problems. Any suggestions would get great! Thanks!

'nother newbie here, from the UK. I had surgery (LAP RNY) at the end of January and I've lost about 40lbs I think. I'm feeling a shedload better about all kinds of things. I can walk my dogs for a couple of miles without pain and suffering for days afterwards, I've stopped my anti anxiety meds and the propanolol I was taking for anxiety related palpitations and I stopped smoking in November. I feel bloody marvellous!

It's great to find a forum to talk to others who've had the surgery and those who are thinking about it. As far as food goes, the nausea isn't much fun. For the first few weeks I took lanzoperazole 30mg, that's gone down to 15mg and I can tell the difference. The thing I seem to be safest with is porridge or baked potatoes. I definitely can't eat bread - which isn't a problem because it was my downfall in the first place! I also find that meat is a bit of a problem, but the worst thing is, the foods I seem to be able to tolerate best are the junk foods. Crisps (or rather potato chips) and crackers. Sweet stuff is pretty much off the menu, and I'm trying to eat more fruit, I can eat veggies so I'm trying to eat more and varied. I haven't started on the B12 shots yet, but I'm taking a multi vitamin and a B complex, and folic acid.

Long story short, it was a great decision and so far I'm not having too many problems with it. I hope it continues
