My favorites were egg drop soup, eggs, oatmeal, chicken (many have trouble with it), cottage cheese, low carb yogurt, mashed potatos, soups, alsa and spaghetti sauce on anything, and cheese. Good luck...........just listen to your body. As you know, everyone tolerates different things. I have trouble with fried food, long spaghetti (other shapes are fine, must be a chew thing.....all them little pieces as you try and chew it), and anything I don't chew well enough or try and eat too fast. Some have trouble with chicken and fruit......so eat it slow, chew well, and see how it sits. Good luck!

Well, we're all different that's for sure-so it IS a lot of trial and error. At first, you probably will be on soft or pureed foods-like tuna salad on saltines, chili, ect...but then soon, you'll be going to fish, salads, protein bars, ect..personally, I have trouble with chicken, beef jerky, and bread-but some people have no problems at all with those things. Just remember-PROTEIN,PROTEIN,PROTEIN.

My savior was the liquid eggs from Costco. You can freeze them and they make great omlettes! Since they are made with 99% egg whites, they are low in cholesterol and high in protein. Cheese omlettes got me through my soft food stage when most other foods did not agree with me. I still have them for breakfast a few times a week.

At first I had very few foods I wanted to eat, and most of them I only wanted once and felt like I'd never want to see it again. The foods I listed in my earlier post were some exceptions. However, I find now that I am further out.....I can eat the same foods over and over. I never did that before. I would get bored and just go from one food to another. Now I can eat oatmeal for breakfast a lot and enjoy it. I can have my leftovers 2 or 3 times in a row and like it. I thought of this when reading the post above. Is it like that for some of you others? I'm trying to pinpoint the difference and I think it's that I slow down and enjoy the taste and texture. I don't know and maybe it's just me, but it's a good thing because I don't get bored and go in search of that elusive food I want like I used to. Hmmmmm....

You say regular foods....not sure if you mean going from liquids to puree or soft foods.
My favorite was cheese. I started grapes - but only ate the inside - no skins. Omelettes with cheese and mushrooms were good. Yogurt is my favorite and I eat it every day. I started nuts at 5 weeks and they supplement me when I am a little low on protein.

Grapes?
I am curious as to why grapes shouldn't be eaten because of the skin. I tried some yesterday (and am only 6 weeks post-op) and they went down just fine. In fact, they helped me to have a bowel movement, too, (I assume because of fiber) as we all know how constipation is a side affect to RNY. I just chewed them up really really well and I couldn't even tell that there was a skin there. Is this wrong?

From my experience, there are some grapes where I was able to just chew the skin up with the grape....and some where it made a little ball of skin I had to spit out. I think it depends on the kind of grape. The large, dark, seedless ones had great skin I could chew up well.
