Default Back to Work for Me

Hey Everyone!!!

I guess it's a big day for me tomorrow, I am headed back to work for the first time in 6 weeks. I spent a lot of time this week going through the store and trying to get some food to eat at my desk. I work in a call center and I can't take a break if it's not scheduled. I get pretty nauseous if I don't eat for a long period of time so I know it's going to be an adjustment for me.

I am kinda scared about eating lunch with my co-workers but in the end, I think it will all work out.

On a more personal side note for me, I had been seeing a guy I worked with for about 2 months before I had suregery and we broke-up a couple weeks after Christmas. I purposley had not told him I was having the surgery cause I wanted him to like me for me not because I was going to be thinner. Well, I have always been friends with his room mate and we hung out as friends a few times too. Now, we have been dating for officially one week and about 6 dates.

I head back into the doctors on Thursday for another check-up and weigh in as for pounds I don't trust my home scale at all but as for sizes, I had to clean out clothes from my closet that were way too big for me. Jeans need belts and probably some tailoring and I even bought a few inexpensive shirts in sizes I haven't worn in years. It felt great and even though pounds lost are only about 30 the sizes are what I notice the most.

Hope everyone else is doing great, I know I am really glad I did this now.

Thumbs up

Hi Courtney,
Congratulations, seems like everything is going really well for you. What more could you want, huh? You are going to be fine tomorrow. Are you excited to know what your co-workers are going to say about your weightloss? Have a nice day tomorrow and let us know how your first day back went.

Hi Courtney! I work in a call center too, for Progressive Auto Insurance. I went back to work last Wednesday, having been out for 3 weeks. I keep sugar free pudding and jello, and applesauce sweetened with splenda at my desk because they are easy to eat between phone calls and if my phone rings, I'm not busy chewing. I am still trying to get adjusted though. I'm trying to get in all of my water, which requires extra trips to the bathroom and I am also not necessarily hungry at my "scheduled" break times and I don't want to eat if I'm not hungry. My manager was very understanding last week - we can turn our phone off and go into "Misc" time for unanticipated trips to the restroom etc, but we are supposed to limit this to 10 minutes total during the day (thats in addition to the two 15 minute breaks and hour lunch that we get). I had 3 times as much Misc time as I was supposed to have all 3 days I worked last week with trips to the ice machine, the restroom, and eating when I was actually somewhat hungry. Have a good day at work tomorrow and let us know how it goes!

Felicia - have your doc write a note for you that you will need special medical accomodations for a while - since this is an accomodation that is easily made, they cannot judge you for it or have it relfect proorly on your performance review...sorry for the highjack

Whitney,

Thanks for the suggestion. I am getting more adjusted. We have a gym at work, so I have been getting up, having my protein shake, going to the gym by 11:30 then showering and getting ready for work in the locker room. I don't have to be at work until 1 PM. I had some string cheese after my workout. I find that I am then hungry around 3, so today I took my first 15 minute break at 3 and had a small meal. During my actual "lunch break" from 6 to 7, I had some applesause. I premixed 64 ounces of crystal light in 2 sprots bottles, so I had that at my desk. I sit at the end of the row of cubicles, so anytime anyone heads towards the break room, I ask them to bring me some more ice I was able to stay within my time frames today without any problems. I just need to plan ahead.

Well, here is the ruling on my first day back. I loved it, I was so excited and just loved seeing everyone again. I got lots of compliments and it was a great time. The bad part was, I got this horrible pain about 1/3 of the way through the night that just kept getting worse and worse. It was in the middle of the front of my stomach and my back. I don't know what caused it maybe from sitting like I was but it got so bad at one point I had to go home early.

I saw one of the supervisors that had the surgery and she said I looked great, I hardly recognized her, she is into a size 6 now which I thought was amazing. Hopefully today will got better, I am going to call my doctor and check about that pain I experienced and see if the nurse has any suggestions.

Anyone else have pain when they went back to work that they never had before????
