Nausea
Hi --
I am one month post op and experiencing waves of nausea for no real reason. This morning is was as I was drinking water. The nausea causes me to wretch, which is really hard on my pouch.
I was on antibiotics a week or so ago, and getting sick several times during the day. Since I stopped taking them, the nausea pretty well stopped. Now I'm wondering what the heck.
Anyone else experience this? Is it normal?

Is it only when you drink water? I had problems with nausea and I couldn't keep water down, and dry heaving about 3-4 weeks out and it turned out to be a stricture that almost landed me back in the hospital cuz I waited too long to address it, so be carefull. If something isn't right I would recommend calling the doctor.

Nausea
Thanks for your response.
No it could be when I'm not eating or drinking anything. It happened to me in the shower yesterday. Just started heaving out of the blue.

hey pod-mate...thats an interesting one. I find I get nausea or indigestion when its time to eat or (I think) when my body says....ok enough liquid. I also take about 3 tums a day and it seems to help.
take care sweetie...thinking of you.

Persistent Nausea
I was having persistent nausea and while I know it is common post-operatively, when I went for my post-op follow-up on Monday, Kelly said it could be overactive acid production. I had reflux in the past so she said this could be from that. She was concerned because if it is the acid production there is a risk of developing an ulcer. She prescribed me a stronger prescription acid blocker. She wants to see me in 2 weeks for follow-up.
Most importantly, she said that I should have called when I first noticed that this nausea was "consistent" and "often"; and I should not have waited until my appointment to tell her. I knew it was a common thing post-operatively, which is why I didn't call. Now I wish I had.
I will fill the script today and start the stronger acid blocker and will keep you posted about if it works or not to get rid of the nausea.

That sounds a lot like what I had. I was dry heaving out of nowhere, with nothing to throw up cuz I couldn't get or keep anything down. I would call your doctor!
