Thumbs down recent post op

I had my surgery the 22nd of February, in addition to the gastric bypass i had my gallbladder out, anyone out there had experience with the additional post op issues of eating...i am taking what i can...but my god...sometimes, i can barely get 1/2 can atkins protein shake down and water...just started some surgar free jello sunday...and anyone who is having insurance issues, trust me...be the agressor...get your insurance advocate involved if your ipa is not willing to step up to the plate...i started this process june 2005 and would of been done except my primary changed ipa's the week my surgery was approved, end of october, i either had to change primaries or start again..i chose to keep my primary and deal with the new ipa...i also had my insurance advocate involved, so november i had a new surgeon and with the holidays and all i just had my surgery ... probably for the better as he did laparascopy verses the full nine yards sorta speak, any in put regarding the gallbladder thing would be greatly appreciated...thanks ...sharon

Always,
I dont have any personal experiences as I am pre op but congrats on finally getting your gbs and from what I read on this sight, your stuggle with getting much down at this point is very normal.
good luck!

I have had both GBP and gall bladder just not at the same time. The having trouble getting food down it just the way it is with the GBP early out. It takes time for you pouch to heal. It will get better.

I had my gps and gall bladder out at the same time. I had no pain from the gbs but my gallbladder spot killed me. I was also only able to drink 1/2 shake at a time so I got the ones that are 35 grams of protein and I had that 4X a day. SF pudding was also a lifesave to get my crushed pills down, and sip sip sip.

Sharon your actually lucky, some people are on clear liquids for like almost 2 weeks. It will be hard for you to get all your protein and water in this soon out. You are not even a week post-op. There is a lot of healing going on. It will take time. I have no experience on the GB but sometimes it is best when it is taken out.
