ok, I am whinning.....
As you may have read in other posts, this is by far the worst week for me with eating.
I entered in my foods into fitday and by supper last night I had 288 calories and 18 grams of protein. I added a yogurt to this at bedtime. I find my pouch acts like my gallbladder (thats no longer there) and gives me indigestion from lack of food, the yogurt calms is down and lets me sleep for a few hours. Tums also helps.
Thanks to everyone for their assistance on getting in more protein. I am trying. Food and smells turn my stomach I feel like I am pregnant again (not).
In the last few days anything with flavor is a turn off - I am back to plain water from crystal light, botanicals and propel...I just can't stomach them. Funny thing is I made tortellini and polish sausage with alfredo sauce for my hubby last night and it smelled really good...parmesen cheese too. Didn't try any of it, but funny how something so strong in flavor seemed ok, yet the smell of crystal light makes me run to the bathroom.
Its early in the morning now and I am wondering what to eat today. I think I will start with some cereal or a yougurt smoothie and maybe keep to fluids for the good part of the day to see if I can keep it down.
At first I thought maybe there was a problem, but I can keep certain things down better that others and unfortunately, the protein is the one coming up.
My thoughts are trying nuts and peanut butter later in the week to increase the protein content.
I see the doctor on Wednesday and will convey this to him. I haven't done he number 2 thing for almost 10 days now.........and no feeling to do so now.
Just needed to whine.....

Awww Lisa me torry you are still going through this with your meals. With 288 calories I can see why you might not have the urge to go number 2 but 10 days that isnlt healthy. I would call your primary doctor and ask him/her to prescribe you something. Not having a BM for that long can cause your body to become toxic. Your body needs to rid that waste. How much water are you getting in? Don't wait for your appointment to ask about this. I would suggest something for you to drink to make you go poo poo but I think that is something your doctor should do considering they know your medical history. I wish I had a cure for getting protein in via a patch, I would clean up. I hope everything works out sweety. Keep me posted.

Denise....protein patch......I would buy out the store! The number 2 thing.....I have only gone 2 times since the hospital and the doctor gave me stuff 2 weeks ago, but no success....I really don't know if there is enough food in me to go. I am getting in 3 bottles of water, 6-8 SF popsicles, jello, soup, herbal tea. I drink all day long except for an hour before and after I eat. I even get up in the night to have some water. The only way that I was able to go #2 on my own was when the nurse gave me orange juice in the hospital and insisted I drink it....dumped on it, but it made the system work.

Lisa ...
Are you getting in some excersize too? That might help in the BM department. Also might help you to relax a lil bit and get yer mind off food for a lil while at least.
Don't feel bad about asking for help. Sounds like you are kinda out there alone .. errr.. up there ...
As for nuts .. I would throw some sunflower seeds in some cottage cheeze .. if you like cottage cheeze that is. I also put some soy nuts in there. I remember craving nuts too.

There have been days where EVERTHING makes my stomach turn. I am still soooo sensitive to smells!!! Things I love, smell like what ends up in my daughters diaper and I start gagging even thinking about them. Other days, it's all good. There is no rhym or reason to it either.
Try adding some protein to you tea and your yogurt. It'll help.
As for calories, I have no idea how people are able to eat 800 - 1000 calories on a regular basis. I am lucky if I get in 600 on a good day.
Hang in there, it will get better.

Eating schedule
Hey podmate --
Sorry to hear that things continue to be rough eating wise. I found through my troubles that the less I eat the less I want to eat. I think you have to find a balance between fluids and eating. I put myself on a schedule:
5:30 am -- 1/2 tin of Ensure (Dr. recommended) in small sips!
8 am -- at least 500 ml of water within an hour...more if you can do it.
10 am -- Eat something with protein (shake...anything that works)
Noon -- Eat again.
2 pm -- drink at least 500 ml of water within and hour...more if you can.
4 pm -- eat
6 pm -- eat
7:30 is -- drink as much water as you can before bed time
Last 30 minutes before bed -- 1/2 can of Ensure
This schedule has helped me. I don't necessarily eat much each time, but it seems to be helping to keep my system more in balance.
Lisa A.
PS. Ensure isn't for everyone. I was suffering from malnutrition and my dr basically prescribed it. It's helped me get my head above water nutritionally.
