what kind of vitamins to take??
Just curious as I am still on a kiddy-type chewable vitamin...what type of vitamins do most people take when you can switch to adult vitamins?? I keep seeing an add for Vista vitamins for people who have had wls but it is well over a buck a day for them and that would really add up in time! Thanks....Pam

Prenatal 19 (has iron and folate) prescribed by my WLS surgeon.
Beta Carotene (Vitamin A) Walmart brand
Centrum Complete (well, Walmart brand, actually, but same thing)
B12 Sublingual tablet - tried the liquid, it was icky
Calcium + Vit D - 1500 mg over the course of the day.
Flaxseed Oil - keeps things regular.

I take Building Blocks vitamins, because they're made for Bariatric patients. They include Calcium citrate, Iron, a Multi-vitamin, CoEnzyme Q10, and Supreme B Complex. I also take a B12 sublingual from GNC, and a Skin, Hair & Nails supplement from GNC. It's a lot to take every day, but it's worth it to me!

RE: What type of Vitamin to Take
Our group recommends Ultra Mega by GNC. $30.00 for a 6 month supply. My wife had Gastric Bypass in 1997 and is doing fine.
Good Luck,
Dennis

Bariatric mulit/day from wlsvitamins.com
SL B12 4-5 x/week from wlsvitamins.com
Liquid calcium citrate, vit D, Magnesium made by tropical oasis, 1 tbs/day
Gentle Iron, 28 mg of ferrous glycinate, walmart 1/day
Multi oil 1/day from GNC
I know they are from all different brands etc, but these are the ones I like the most. The bari MVI is great as it has thimine, biotin and huge amounts of the vitamins we require over a regular multi and they are reasonably priced.

I take
1 women's multivitamin (was going to get weight smart vitamins, but the woman's had more b12, I think)
1 b12 (pill)
1 C
1 Iron
1 Birth control
1 Prozac
I take those in one handful...
I have calcium, but I forget it often because I cannot take it in my "handful".
My labs were fine.

My surgeon said to stay away from all the wls vitamins they sell on the internet. He said they are a rip off. I take 1 viactive multi vitamin (cheweable), 1 viactive calcium (cheweable), and 1 B12 a day. That is it for now. I am assuming there will be more vitamins I have to take as the months progress. Hope this helps.
