Default So discouraged...

Hi all --

A couple of days ago I posted about how great I was feeling. Well, that was one day. Since then it's been downhill. The next day I didn't feel great -- lethargic, exhausted...but today I couldn't even get out of bed.

I'm so tired of not feeling great. I had this surgery in the hopes of improving my health and to feel better. Now I just feel like an invalid. I'm worried I'm never going to feel better.

I'm about 2.5 weeks post op and am eating and drinking ok. Getting some protein in and trying to get at least 34 oz of fluid in (not including fluid from food).

I feel doomed.

CHIN UP LISA!

Woman, you are NOT doomed, believe you me. This is your new lease on life! I've been having some trouble, too; needing to take naps in the middle of the day, still having to ask people to pick things up for me, feeling weird in public, Scooter (my pouch) being an arsehole about EVERYTHING, but guess what? This too shall pass

Do you journal? That's really been helping me out. I sit down and write every day whether I have something to write about or not. It feels good to just get the pen moving and (hopefully) prevent any gigantic meltdowns. Also, walking helps me bigtime. Even when I think I'm feeling really lethargic and nauseous and basically like death warmed over, strapping on my iPod and jumping on the treadmill for even 10 minutes at a time really picks up my spirits.

C'mon Lisa, you have to get out of bed, even if it's just to walk to the door and back; I promise you it'll get better!

Hang in there

Time, fluids, and protein will make you feel like a different person. Those first few weeks where I liken it to hibernation. Your body is lethargic because it is trying to conserve energy when no food is coming in. Once you can get the protein in that you need, consistently get in more than 40 ounces in you will feel soooooo much better. I used to go into a coma everyday at 4:00 in the afternoon, but by week 4. Have not napped since and feeling great. It will come!! Keep your eye on the prize.

Lisa that stuff you are feeling alot of us experience. You are only 2.5 weeks post-op, there is alot of stuff going on inside of your body. It is something that gets better with time and adjustment. This tool takes time to work it doesn't happen over nite. I agree with Amanda and Dyann. Stay Focused on your goal.

What al lot of people don't tell you is some days ... at least for a while you are going to feel like poop on a stick. It does it get better, once your body figures out what you have done to it. Remember to that there are a lot of emotions right now, and well all had a bit of depression when we REALLY realized what we did to ourselves. It passes, and I think all of us would say that we would go through it again if we had to.

Hang in there and pamper yourself today.

Remember too, that's why our surgeons suggest we take 6 weeks off work. We are lazy, traumatized, lathargic, and just down right tired....what's wrong with that? You had major surgery and your body needs time to heal. But i will tell you.....that 1st day you get up and feel good, and put on your make up and walk out the door is a GREAT DAY. Do your best to get in that dreaded protein ......it makes a world of difference!
