Default surgery sucky

i am only a week out and trust me i can feel your pain, but i have met people like you and me...and it is worth the effort and yes this is an effort..you and i are out of the hospital ..walking talking and able to vocalize our issues..trust me some patient do not have it as well...i do the atkins chocolate shake 1/2 can in a blender with a scoop of protien powder, and a 1/3 of a 1/2 of sf fudge popsicle..if chocolate is tolerable this works and i do it twice a day...just got there though..it gives me between 40-60 gm protein a day...and yesterday was the first day i got there and it was a struggle...major ... i also take the gum ball vitamins 2 x per day...i bought them a vons and they work well, i also supplement the protein shake with a product called life essence, bunch of stuff in it...sounds good, but who knows..anyway once i can get those dowm and my tums...i actually can start to function...freezing crystal lite and letting it thaw and drinking it slowly is working for me as well...time..it took us time to get here and going to take some time to get where we are heading...my best of luck...sharon

Those first few weeks were HELL.... But.... everyday... it gets better and better... and then one day you cross your legs... not a man cross... but a real chick cross, just out of habbit, and you look down and you think... "OMG what the heck did I just do?" And your eyes well up, and you keep staring, amazed, at those legs crisscrossed, like it's no big deal, like you did when you were 15..... and it's all worth it honey..... every moment.

Kristi,

I came upon your thread - how do you feel now? Has time improved matters for you? Do you still regret having had the surgery?
Cheers,
Vim
(Happy at 4 months out)

Default Are you 3 weeks out or just stalled?

Hi!

I was confused by your post because it looked like your surgery was in 2006. It can be very difficult psychologically when our weight loss stalls - especially after all we have done to lose the weight. It is normal to plateau for weeks at a time - sometimes I did not lose anything for 3-5 weeks but then it would drop off eventually.

Let me know if I can help and I would encourage you to come to Dr C's support group tomorrow night to talk with other post opers and get support.

Pomerado Hospital 3rd floor conference room C&D 6-7:30pm 4/17/08

Hope to see you there!

Ann

Default Hang in there it is so worth everything

Hi there,
My 3 yr re-birthday is July 12th, so I'm a little over 2 1/2 year out from surgery. I still remember the struggle at the beginning and I know right now all you need to here is one more person say, "hang in there" but really, follow the plan given to you by your doctor and remember, it's all about you! You are worth everything. Even if it means a little struggle. I promise you, you will feel better physically and emotionally. Try as best as you can to keep your goal in front of you. And goodness gracious don't listen to those idiots out there that think you took the easy way out. Cause guess what! It's not easy.
I don't regret anything about the surgery. I still feel wonderful, I met my goal and then some. It took a little over a year, I weighed 270 and now go between 140-145 and I'm ok with that. I'm comfortable in my clothes, and can go to an amusement park without any issues my kids are very proud of me, but I didn't do it for them. I know that sounds selfish, but I did it for ME so I could enjoy them, and keep up with them, they're 17 and 21. Now they are telling me to walk slower. HAHA

So anyway, I feel your struggle and honor your courage to better yourself.
It will get better, but remember what you're going through now, so you won't go through it again.

Sherri

Ann and Sherri!
I came upon Kristi's old thread. Yes, she did indeed have her surgery in 2006, and I am curious how she is doing now, as is Deborah. I only revived an old thread -it's worth checking dates before responding.
As to myself, I am fine, 4 months out and at the natural stalling phase, which will be over sooner or later...
Cheers,
Vim
