What you are going through is normal. I thought I would DIE from thirst for the first few weeks. The calories ... you need to up them if you can... and the milk that is fairly normal too. Some people dump on milk and some are lactose intolerate after surgery. At three weeks I was just a "eat and drink what I can to get through the day".

You know what I think it was week 4 where I lost 1 pound all week. I was so upset. I even posted about it here. I was upset because I was mad and couldn't deal with it the way I used to which was with food.

It will get better ... I know that we are all telling you that and you don't really believe it... but it does! Then you feel great.

Take it one day at a time. I did mostly the EAS shakes with the extra "anywhey protein, unflavored" and yogurt danon light and fit. It satisfied me. I also found GNC's liquid protein punch flavored. That would help with the protein and water. 3 tblsp equal 18 gm. protein. Give yourself time .

Default Keep on keepin' on

Kristi,
I was well into the 4th week before I even tried a proetin supplement. S/F popcicles kept me hydrated. Water got hung up in my throat and milk was a no-no. I also did the jello bit too. Just hang in there, you WILL loose weight, but you must be careful not to get dehydrated. My kids thought I was nuts, I had one popcicle in my mouth and one waiting on the table. The second one never melted!!! And you know, eventually I just stopped using them. And don't forget, your tastes will change. What you cannot consume now, you might be able to consume later.
Hang in there...

Kristy:
I'm pre-op, but everything you bring up is a fear of mine. This forum is generally pro-surgery, but it's really nice for a pre-op to get the cons, as well. It is an emotional rollercoaster. We're lucky that there are a BUNCH of people on this forum there, telling us that everything is fine, and sharing their experiences. Honestly, if I had to go through this without the support of the forum, I wouldn't have pursued this surgery.

Default I feel ya

Yes, I have had those thoughts in the early parts of this post op hell - now that I am eating more foods, I feel more satisfied. I don't get all my protein, or my water, but I do the best I can. I wish I could stay off the scale, but I can't so that sucks too. But my clothes look different and so does my body. So I try to focus on that.

The cliche is right - hang in there. It sucks at first but it does get better.

Yep I think I wrote almost the exact same post as you. I just started protein supplements this week. I have lost a lot of weight but I dont think I will feel the full effect until I am under a weight I have dieted to. I tried not to stress about the protein and yeah my hair shows it.

Things will get better for you. I remember bawling my a** off the 2 to 3rd week out. I kept telling myself, "what the hell did I do?!" Well needless to say, now that Im 11 weeks out, I feel great!! I don't regret it one bit,NOW. I had the same problem with protein and water. I stoppd taking protein shakes for a couple of weeks than started again. The 3rd I hit a plateau. Didn't lose weight for two weeks straight. I was disappointed cause I wasn't eating much. 40lbs less later, I feel real good. SO it will get better for you. SMILE

I'm tired but I force myself to work out every day, I lucky to get 350 calories a day and to top it all off this week, my 3rd week out I didn't lose any weight. I've only lost 16lbs since my surgery. I've done this before presurgery so no I don't feel a sense of accomplishment just frustration. I want my money back!

Any suggestions on what I can do to start getting some results?
OMG i totally remember this feeling - it seems like yesterday - i went through it for a month almost 2 because i had a stricture & had to go to SF 3 times to get the baloon dilatations done - i couldnt eat couldnt drink i was sad dehydrated and it sucked! i will tell you i am doing so much better - after christmas everythng changed everything started to improve i actually thought maybe they stretched it to much the last time because all of a sudden i could eat but now it has leveled off now and i eat about 600-800 cal a day no way i am hitting over 40 protein more like 20-30 grams finally this month i can drink 2 bottles of water through out the day & i eat very little on my small plate when everyone else eats on a dinner plate it gets better i promise - also if you send me your address i will send you some samples of the protein drink i like also if you go to the website you can see if there is a place close to you they often will give you samples for free if you tell them you had surgery and need protein then you will try things & only go back to order what you like http://www.bariatrix.com/english/inf...mid=27&catid=5 i was very picky nothing was good and i found this place and it was heaven! if your place will not give you samples i will go to the place in roseville by me & get you some samples if you tell me what you think you want to try...i love the french vanilla coffee its SO good & not to thick i hate thick chalky stuff i got sick on it so much! you can email me anytime if you need to talk or ask questions too my email is thetapia4@comcast.net & my aol im is also thetapia4 you can chat with me there too - you will make it i promise it gets better - it took 2 months for me because of the stricture problems i had - i hope it will be sooner for you! keep your chin up!

I lost zero, zip, ziltch, nada my third week out. It wasn't until fourth week when I could take in more, I lost more. I can still only get in 40-50 ounces a day. You are not alone. When you can eat more, it all turns around. I have not had any of those huge weeks, but it is steady and it comes off. It will work and you will feel better!!! ((HUGS))
