Hey there!
Hi Veronica!?
It's Veronica, right?
I was wondering just the other day how you were doing?
I was the one asking you all the questions about your Dr. right before you had your surgery.
I see you joined the group here..good for you.
If you havent already got some litterature on do's and don'ts of eating etc...email me and i will get you a copy of my stuff.
So what do you think since you crossed over? How was it down in TJ?

bad breath??
I am one month pre-op. I just read one of the messages in which the woman complained of foul bad breath. Please tell me that this is NOT common! What is the experience of others who have had the surgery? Is this woman's experience a fluke or is it common?

Bad Breath,
From what I hear and from my own personal experience, it is common!

As Kim said, it is pretty common. It is called ketosis (sp?) and what it is is your body purging itself. It shows up in bad breath and body odor. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it is just one side effect of the surgery, just like hair loss. Mine didn't go past the first month post-op. Chew gum, shower often and know that this too will pass. Good luck.

I think having the stinkies is pretty common. My skin almost smelled like vitamins...YUK...and I've had the swamp breath. I just floss and brush often, and I keep a small bottle of Scope with me to rinse during the day.

Welcome!
Welcome to the forum, and hopefully you can get some help here. I'm just curious what drove you to Mexico for the surgery? Was it insurance? I almost went to have it done in Mexico because I was having such a problem with my insurance company. I think the reason I didn't was it scared the shit out of me to have it done down there by myself, and if I had complications not be able to get them handled here. Well anyway good luck to you and hopefully you won't have any problems. Suzy

I haven't had any meat yet.
Also all last week I had a horrible pain on my chest. My doctor said my pouch was swollen and gave me some pills. Just yesterday the pain went away. I lso have the feeling I want to throw up for everything, I'm cold and have that nasty feeling, or even with my own salliva, that grosses me out, I can't stand my breath even brushing my teeth a million times a day. I just want to know if all this is normal, if you guys here get this same feelings. My doctor has no support group. And I will love to join you guys and be around people like me.
So far I have lost 35 or 40 lbs. I used to weight 240. My clothes does fit a lot looser and that excites me.
If someone can let me know how I can join your support group or if I can since I had my surgery done somewhere else. I will just love to join your group and go to your meetings. Please say I can join!!!!!!
