Back Pain
Has anyone had any experience with any sort of constant back pain post-op? Ever since I've been home, I've fought on and off with a lower back pain in the middle of my back. Sometimes I can ease it with posture change and sometimes, there's just not hope.
Anyone?

I woke up with a terrible back ache on my right side on January 16th after my surgery. I had a heat pack on it almost the entire time I was in the hospital.
Now that I'm home I use a heating pad when it really hurts. Today, 11 days later is the best it's felt so far. Not gone but tolerable. And I can finally roll on my right side in bed.
My night nurse saw it many times from laying flat on a hard operating table for several hours.

Andy:
Be sure the pain is not from your kidneys. Sometimes WLS patients develop kidney stones. If the pain is pretty constant and in your back near the waistline, you may have some renal issues. Are you drinking enough water?
From what I've heard, you certainly don't want a kidney stone if you can avoid it!
Just a thought...

Thanks, Dara. I'll up my water intake and see if this helps.
It "feels" more like muscle/bone pain. Let's hope my new gym membership can help this. I've been told that the loss of muscle mass in the abdomen (due to the lifting restrictions) can lead to back pain.
Thanks for the responses!

My hips were hurt so badly during surgery that I had to come home from the hospital with a walker. That particular pain eased up within a few days, but I still have a "kink" in my left lower back that will NOT go away!!! My chiropractor can't even get it to let up yet.
BUT... I'm not letting it get in the way of my exercise (ouch, ouch)... I'm hoping it will get better soon!!!!!!!!!

Thank you. I'm doing pretty good today, but that may be because I worked out this morning. I hope it gets better soon ... and your back too.
Thanks again.

Just the Butt Bone pain for me....the EVER present butt bone pain that follows me around like a curse. It's pure hell at about the 100 mile mark on my motorcycle.
