I'm with you on this one. As long as I add a teeny bit of crystal light to my water I am able to get it down. If I try to drink it plain, I can't. I feel like upchuching.

I can relate to those of you who struggle for liquid intake. I was jokingly called the camel prior to surgery because I just didn't drink much. I was struggling for a long time after surgery to get that minimum 48 ounces. At first that seemed to work ok. After I started eating a lot of real food it caused constipation and I changed habits REAL fast! I bought a HUGE 34 oz mug at Walmart and start the day with hot cocoa with some dry milk and vanilla supplement. This way I start out my day with 1/2 my liquids and proteins for the entire day. Then I only have 1/2 hour to wait before I can get the jump on eating. I can honestly say that with time and the right beverages (for me cocoa, hot tea, ice tea, and snapple mainly) drinking 64-120 ounces has become part of my lifestyle. I don't throw that term around loosely, as I don't feel all my eating habits or my exercise have become a natural part yet.......still a struggle or forced for me. Keep working at it and it'll happen eventually........and when the good old hunger and cravings kick in, boy are you gonna need those beverages.....at least I do.

I get about 40-50 oz in during the week at work - weekends and vacations are not so good... I try to keep a bottle or two in the car - I will tend to sip while I am driving out of boredom.

Very good point.......at first I used driving, TV, and talking on the phone as times to mindlessly drink. I used to do it with food, so I knew I could do it!

Today I am three weeks post op and on a good day I drink two 16.9 oz bottles of aquafina. And of course my protein shakes (did I mention that I hate them). I'm not big on the crystal light. Before surgery I drank about five bottles of water a day. I hope to get to that again in the near future.

I get in about 1 bottle of water per day. I am, however, a cow when it comes to eating ice. It satisfies my chewing desire and keeps me hydrated. Decaf iced tea is also very satisfying.
