Default 6 wks - only 2 lbs!

I weighed myself this morning - 6 weeks tomorrow - and I have only lost 2 lbs from last week. I thought in the early weeks, there was still a significant weight loss. I have been depressed all day. I am so afraid that it will not work for me and all will be for nothing. How much should I be walking now? I walk around the hospital where I work but that is it. It still pulls and aches when I spend alot of time on my feet. Isn't it too early for a plateau?

when did you have surgery? Are you getting your protein in? And yes walking helps. I would recommend measuring than weighing because you will find that during the past six weeks that you lost two pounds you might have lost 7 inches off your stomach, or something like that.. so it's not about the weight. Please don't get discouraged! Your body is still adjusting, and the weight will continue to come off-it really will! Just keep following your nutrition guidelines and your surgeon's pouch rules. You have achieved so much, and will continue to succeed!

The less weight you have to lose, the slower it seems...2 lbs a week is an awesome rate.

I had surgery on 14 December. My total weight loss is 39 lbs so far. But last week it was 4 lbs and now this week its down to 2 lbs. I am just worried that it has slowed down for 2 weeks now. Its too early and I am losing hope. I thought I would lose a significant amount and then it would slow down. My clothes are a little baggy but not to the point that I can start getting out all those smaller size that are hiding in my closet.

Don't lose hope! It's not even six weeks, and you've lost nearly 40 pounds--when have you ever done that before? And known that it won't come back? My weight loss has been averaging two pounds a week for the last two months, and it adds up--I was at almost exactly the same place you were at six weeks, and as of this morning, have lost 71 pounds. Some weeks I lose only one pound, some weeks it's four. Tomorrow is my four-month mark.

The slower you lose it, too, the more time your skin has to adjust...

I had my surgery on 12-19-05, pretty close to your date and I've lost 27lbs so far and am ecstatic! 39 lbs is phenomenal. I had a two week stall at two weeks out - I lost nothing during that time and everyone told me that it was normal to experience stalls throughout the process and that the scale would move again. And it did! 2lbs in a week is great- definitely not a stall! Keep up the good work!

Weightloss isn't a steady thing. It will vary month to month. I lost 20 lbs the first month and then only 1-2 lbs a week after that. Many weeks I gained a few pounds and many weeks I lost nothing. In the end, the tortoise beat out the hare. You didn't gain the weight in a month...so you can't expect to suddenly lose the weight all at once.

I am three weeks today. I lost 25 pounds in two weeks and then nothing for 6 days. Nada..nothing. In the last two days I lost 1 1/2 pounds. Easy for me to say, but the stalls pass. I didn't think so a few days ago. It is hard when we did something so risky and permanent to lose weigt and we don't see a constant drop. It is step wise. Make sure you get your water and protein and maybe up your level of activity. Take the steps at the hospital instead of the elevator. It will happen!!!
