Default Traded One Addiction For Another

At seven months out and capable of eating so much more without worry, I find all I've done is traded one addiction for another.

Instead of cookies, I'm gobbling down sf ice pops. Instead of candy, I'm gobbling down nuts.

As a pre-op'er my family, and I, had a hard time understanding my fatness. I never sat down and ate a meal. It wasn't until I became a post-op'er that I realized I was a nibbler....I ate all day long.

A handful here...A handful there. I need to relearn eating. I need to overcome this need to graze all day long.

I'm finding, like my pre-op days, I'm hungry most the time. I guess I have an eating disorder or is it just a head disorder.

Anyway, the sf ice pops are gone and I'm getting rid of the nuts. I'll keep you all posted on how this works out.

Peckkale,
I'm with you! I have more food at my desk right now than I ever had before surgery. I'm going to have to stop making popcorn every afternoon. I also have got to stop drinking fluids with my meals. I know that's a big issue and why I can eat so much more.

I wish it was as simple as drinking with my meals.

I'm on an ice pop kick and I'm eating anywhere from half to the whole darn box a day.

Gotta just start asking myself.... "6 or 26... What size do you want to wear?"

I don't get it....why is having the popsicles so bad? Aren't they sugar free? I mean, it's better than smoking or grazing on carbs...I don't think you should beat yourself up for it, Peck. Unless there's something I don't know?

Sounds like me...my drawers are full of stuff at work. I find myself chomping on sugarfree candy more than ever and feeling awful afterward. They make fresh popcorn at work daily and I mindlessly chomp a whole bag full without thinking. I know I need to gain weight, but not this way. I went out and bought twist and peel licorice, at some and then gave it away. I can't have this stuff around.

Another thing I noticed is when people stress me out at work, I immediately look in my drawer...wanting to munch.. Like that is going to help? I bought a bunch of gum the other day and have been chomping on gum. Sometimes, I make a point of getting up to walk into another department to get away from thinking of food.

I really had second thoughts about sharing this problem here and now I'm glad I did. I see I'm not alone with this problem.

I was thinking myself a failure because I can't seem to quit snacking.

It's not the sf ice pop that bothers me....It's the need/desire/craving, (whatever you want to call it,) to be feeding 24/7.

I am worried I will re-gain most of my weight if I can't get a grip on this soon.

Do you think I need professional help here?
