Post $$ tummy tuck costs $$

Okay I went online today and looked at old EOB's from Blue Cross regarding my tummy tuck... drum roll please.

Office visit with Dr Katzen for consult $350.00 (he accepted what they paid and didnt charge me any extra, not even copay)

Dr. Katzen's surgery fees for tummy tuck and thigh lift $13,400.00 Insurance paid $4273.12 (again my OOP was already met.)

Hospital Bill: Inpatient 2 days $41,010.21 BC paid $3,390.00 (I met my OOP, so I didnt owe the rest.)

Anesthesia: $2,100.00 BC paid $1,206.58

= $56,860 Holy shnikes! But I feel like a million bucks! Now I know on a cash basis it will be alot cheaper! I just wanted to give ya a heads up, and Dr's typically bill huge and have lower return.

That's a lot! My GB doctor mentioned to me at my last visit that he does TTs now. If my insurance won't pay he told me he know a doctor who will do them for $7k. I didn't figure a hopistal stay and anesthesia on top of that. Next time I'll have to ask him if the $7k includes that stuff or not. I hope it does!

Im sorry maybe I read it wrong but how much did you pay total out of pocket? I got an estimate from a nurse at Barix Clinix the tummy tuck is roughly $4000.00 I did not realize the thighs would be higher but it makes sense. Now the hard question how much pain were you in?

my question is about the thigh lift - do you have scars down the thigh? are tehy noticable if you wear a swim suit??? if not how did they do the thigh lift? did you do arms ever? i am so worried about scars on my arms & thighs if i did those - as for the tummy i will never be in a 2 pc so i do want that ski removed eventually - also how do you get it approved? what did you say to the Dr to get him to help you get it done? I am not ready yet but want to lay the ground work

I wasnt in any pain- but I have a high pain tolerance too. I felt fine as far as pain goes.

Remember this quote is for 2 procedures, a tummy tuck and a thighlift and 2 day in patient stay. Many tummy tucks can be performed on an out patient basis.

The questions you want to ask are:
  • If the fee your surgeon is giving us is his/her fee and does it include anesthesia and the OR time.
  • Will it be done on an inpatient or outpatient basis.
I didnt have to pay anything, as my $3000.00 out of pocket had already been met when I had my gastric bypass. I had gastric bypass in 2/2004 and my tucks in 11/2004.

Getting approval: depends on what kind of insurance you have. I had a PPO and went to Dr Katzen who worked his magic and got the TT and Thighs approved.

Scars: The scars on my thinghs are crescent cut. If I wiggle down my swim suit bottoms you cant see them, but if they hike up or when Im wearing underwear they are always visible. These scars are much more noticeable, thicker, darker in color than my belly. But the skin is different than that of your belly as well.
I didnt have my arms done and I wont have them done. My skin isnt GOD AWFUL is loveable and althought the smack I keep hearing from the skin slapping my side is irritating and embarassing at times, things could be worse. I choose to keep my batwings. No my back/ass skin thats something I will be working on having removed in the future.... its awful, painful and downright uncomfortable and increasingly so as time passes.

I had 10 pounds of skin removed, and I wear a bikini without shame, and dont think I am too offensive looking in it... except in the part of my body where my booty belongs

Also good to ask if the cost includes follow up care. Some surgeons charge extra for the post-op stuff.

forgive me now for being stupid - what does it mean the scars on your thighs are cresent cut - and from where you say they are I picture they are not in the shorts area but closer to the belly hips area - did you just havethem lifted or did youhave skin removed between your thighs - that is where i am seeing i would want the skin removed....my stretch marks are so bad i dont think i will ever be able to go in a 2 pc outside of my back yard
