Arrow all inclusive vacation and drinking alcohol in Mexico

Needing some advise, as I am going on my first vacation since my surgery on 8/29/05. I am not worried about the food, however, I would like to have a few adult beverages while on vacation. Does anyone have any suggestions for types of alcoholic drinks they have tried? I am thinking the blended drinks they make will be out because of how much sugar they contain. Any other ideas?? Thanks everyone!!

We drink Vodka & Cranberry and Vodka Gimlets and don't have any problem. And speaking from recent experience, you can drink quite a few Vodka & Cranberry's without getting sick

I have drank alcohol several times since surgery. My drink of choice is Vodka and Oceanspray light cranberry juice. When I go out to a bar or club I order the cranberry juice to be cut in half with water. I have also tried 1/2 shot of straight irish whiskey, OUCH! It burned going down but I chased it with some of the cranberry vodka and it stopped burning.
I have drank a few glasses of red wine too. Even a small glass of sangria, which has a lot of sugar in it but I did OK.
OK so it sounds like I am a lush but I really have only drank a few times. Good luck and have fun!

In maintenance... now I'm yo-yoing up and down 10 lbs or so. I'm trying to find out how to stay at a set weight, it's rough.

I would actually worry about the food. I was in Cancun Mexico at Club Med and got very sick from mashed potatoes. I drank lots of bottled water, didn't do any of the mixed drinks with ice. The milk there is very different and thats what made me "oh, so sick". ( I am pre-op, so after WLS, I would be even more picky about what I would eat).

One good thing is they have lots of seafood and different fish, refried beans and such. Just watch out for milk products and ice cubes/tap water.

As far a booze is concerned, I would stick to hard liquor with a low sugar mix. Stay away from the Mai Tai's and such - mega sugar!
