Default Slow going and a little discouraged

Guys I just need some encouragement, I see all you December newbies losing so much weight and I'm just creeping along. I think I'm still hovering around a 30 lb loss coming up on 6 weeks out tomorrow. I check my ketones every day and they stay around a moderate level so something should be happening. Is it really possible to be eating too much to lose weight at 6 weeks?

Hope its good news for you! I have a friend who had this done, she swears she didn't lose a pound for the first whole month! Course now shes a little over a year out and down about a hundred lbs. Its a little discouraging that so much of this fat is still hanging around but I'm trying to stay optimistic that whats gone is gone forever. At least now I'm able to wear my own fat clothes again and not my friends fat clothes. Now THAT was depressing.

Your goal is to lose 83 pounds which is lower than most around here. Usually the first month you lose 20% of your excess weight. That would be almost 17 pounds for you. So you are ahead of schedule!!! Need to look at the big picture not just the pounds lost.

Red face My Two Cents

I have to offer my two cents here. I've scrolled through the posts on this thread and you're all doing a great job! Why do you think you're losing too slowly or not losing enough? When have you EVER before lost as much weight in the same amount of time?!!?

Most of us are very impatient with weight loss. When it doesn't happen fast enough, we get discouraged or think we've done something wrong somehow. For goodness sake, give yourself a break! Trust me, this time next year, you'll be amazed at how far you've come!

As Bridget says, keep your eyes on your own paper. Don't criticize yourself for losing less or slower than other people. Until cloning becomes popular, there will be no one like you. Your body is unique and will lose at its own pace.

Just trust that if you're following your protocols, you WILL lose the right amount of weight. R-E-L-A-X and be proud of yourself. You've made a very difficult decision to improve your health and life. As far as I can tell, it's working wonderfully for all of you. I'm proud of you!

Jana, you are doing great at 6 weeks. I turned 7 weeks this morning, and I just hit 30. I try to weigh myself only once a week. It is so hard to do. That way when I see multiple digits gone it makes it more encouraging, than watching pound by pound. Keep up the good work.

i had my surgery done 10/18/05 and had lost 18 lbs before surgery - so my starting weight was 225 - and now i am at 174 - i have hit a plateu a few times & got depressed and due to many strictures i have not been working out until after christmas now i try to do at least 15 mins at least 3-5 times a week on my elpitacl traner that i got right before christmas and I keep remembering the weight is still coming off faster then if i had not had surgery so dont be to hard on yourself - did you measure before surgery - how are your clothes fitting? my clothes went from size 20 to 13's and when we are hanging up clothes my husband always says he cant believe how small my pants look - he even confused my pants for his once - that felt GOOD!!! so dont watch the scale keep a diary of what you are eatting and measure measure measure
