Default What caused this feeling?

So is being nauseous (not throwing up, just the queasy feeling) a sign of dumping?

I had dinner last night, I always watch sugars, protein, fat, carbs, etc and within 20 minutes of dinner I felt nauseous and it lasted the rest of the night. I’m thinking maybe I ate “one bite too much” and filled my pouch too much (which I rarely ever do since I get disgusted with one I am eating too fast). I had no other signs of dumping other than feeling queasy for the rest of the night. It was awful.

It has been a struggle to eat today, for fear of that feeling coming back – I have had absolutely no interest in food today!!!

Sounds like one bite too much that took an extra long time to digest. Food does get stuck in the exit hole sometimes and it takes time to digest out.

Arrow Dumping

From what I know about dumping, it can cause a variety of symptoms...most commonly, nausea, pouch pain, sweating, feeling of lethargy and needing to sleep. Some people vomit, have diarrhea and palpitations.

However, dumping is self-limiting...it only lasts for a little while. I think Marie is right. Your nausea was probably caused by eating too much.

I agree it was probably one bite too much. I know this will sound weird but you will get to a point when you can tell the minute that one bite too much hits your mouth that it is gonna be too much-spit it out! Don't make a habit of it though. It gets easier and easier to tell as time passes. There is a learning curve with wls. Just consider this a learning experience!

I agree with everyone else here...I am normally really careful about how much I eat but as I have been settling into my GB life I find myself comfortable and don't watch what I am eating. This past week was terrible left me 2 nights feel queasy and I know it was because while cooking I grazed then tried to eat my normal portion then afterwards felt like I had been run over by a mac truck..Then if I did that too much I will have a day that I can't..Like yesterday-I was soo bad all weekend with eating to much that yesterday I was frothing and couldnt eat but now this morning I am better..Phewwww

Hi Lisa, I'm empathic to how you are feeling. For about 2 weeks straight I went through a daily nausea and vomiting episode, every one was saying I was eating too fast, but I knew I wasn't since I hadn't had prior episodes so couldn't understand why I was going through what I was experiencing. Then I just went back on soup for a while, to give my stomach time to heal.

Although many will say taking that one last bite is what causes this, I'm not totally convinced only because I know I pay extra attention to eating and chewing & UNDER EATING, just because I don't like having those vomitting and nausea episodes, you are right, you get to the point where you don't even want to eat.

I can say it does pass, so do hang in there.
