Default ab workout??

Hello,

you are always so helpful I am so glad to have you all to ask these questions. How long after surgery did anyone start an ab workout. i know my Dr. said I could go to the gym after 6 weeks but I was worried about the abs. Can anyone tell me when they started a strong ab workout with no problems.

also I would like to hear about anyone maybe doing any weights or workouts that had problems I love to learn from others mistakes!!!!

Thanks
Cathysdream

I would contact your doctor and let him advise you. He may tell you to listen to your body (ie - if it hurts, stop), but he may want the ab workout to wait a bit...

Are you/did you have an open or lap procedure...... that makes a HUGE difference in time. I was lap and told no abs for 3 or 4 months..... if your open I would wait 6..... hernias are no fun.

Hernias are no fun? I thought they were a blast...LOL. It does make a difference. Since I have a HUGE piece of mesh that has been altered 3 times, I don't ever see myself doing abs again. I have no abs left. My abdominal wall is completely thrashed. After all is said and done...knowing all of the trouble I am having, I would have wls open tomorrow again. It is all worth it. Sorry to rant..just having some rough times.
