Unhappy Pills, bloody pills!

Dear Friends,
I am having a TERRIBLE time remembering to take my calcium, B-12, iron, multi vitamin, estrogen, happy pills, etc., etc. The calcium makes me want to toss my cookies, the spider-man vitamins taste terrible (glad my girls are grown!), trying to remember to NOT take the iron w/dairy or other pills as well as taking the calcium separate.
Oh, and as far as Christmas confessions, I ate two spritz cookies in two days but would have given them up for a nice green salad (surgery 10/14/05)!
Thanks for letting me vent.
Blessings,
Tami

Tami-PLEASE remember to take your vitamins - they are your lifeline to living as they will keep you healthy and nourished. Post sticky notes all over the house, wear a string, set a timer...do anything to help you to remember to take your vitamins!

Hi,
One thing that has helped me is to have my pills with me at all times. I have some at the house, some in my purse and some in the car. If, I forget to take my pills at home and remember later, I have them with me and take them. Also, I try to keep a routine. Multi with breakfast and dinner, Calcium in between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner and then at bedtime. B-12 on Tues. Thurs. Sat. Even then I'm not perfect. Keep working on it. It will get easier with time.

Martha

I do the same......I use teeny tiny baggies like the kind for crafts or that extra buttons come in when you buy a blouse. I make packs of AM routine and PM routine. I always keep some in my purse in case I forgot to take them. To help me remember, I always have a habit of a warm drink in the morning with protein in it and a warm drink in the evening with or without the proein depending how my food was that day. The warm beverages remind me to take my meds, and they actually sit better in my tummy with warm liquid. But we can't overexpress the importance of your vitamins and supplements. I had to switch to regular vitamins a little early because the chewables made me shudder!

I have a set routine for pill taking. Anything that would be upsetting to my pouchie I take before bed. Calcium at breakfast and dinner. Prenatal at bedtime with my happy pill lol.

I am the absolute worst at taking my vitamins. And I only have 3 to take! 2 chewable multi's, and a calcium. B-12 is a once a week thing. I was always horrible with remembering to take prescribed medication, and this is just as hard. I do try to keep them with me at all time though. I'm working on it.

Thank you ladies for the ideas...I really don't feel too badly although I do get tired toward the late afternoon. I actually have some of those small jewelry baggies. I'll set up the bloody pills so they will travel w/me wherever I go. Thanks again!
Blessings,
Tami

What about a cell phone or watch with an alarm to remind you? Each time it goes off immediately reset it for your next scheduled time. I use my cell alarm like that to remind myself of things sometimes (like when I'm shopping and need to remember to get home in time for my kid's bus).

With me it isn't so much the remembering to take them but I do feeling like I am taking them all the time because I stagger them through the day so as to don't make me nausous. I take synthroid, lexapro, the mutli chewable and the prilosec. and it seems that is all I do. I am not even to the point of taking the calcium yet.

As early out as you are it is totally understandable. When I was using chewables and crushing stuff I had a really rough time of it. Once I got to the point where I could start swallowing pills I was relieved. The only thing is that I try to take them with warm liquids so they don't thunk into my pouch. Many times I thought I was going to hurl them back up until I discovered they hit better that way. Now the only med I have to taste is a sunlinguil B12, and it's very tolerable. Hang in there.......this part gets better soon!
