Angry Hair loss???

I had my surgery last February and I was told at one of the pre-op meetings that there would be some hair loss. I have been experiencing hair loss and extremely dry hair for about a month and a half now. Can anyone tell me when this part of post-op will start to go away? It's very upsetting to me because my hair was the one thing that was always good.

Thumbs up

Hello, Hair loss is part of the whole weight loss experience .I myself went through the same thing. My hair loss has subsided now after 2 months of losing bunches and happy to say that my new hair is finally growing out.I think the best thing to do is not stress over it. I know it seems like all your hair is going to fall out, but be assured that it won't. Yes my hair got very very thin, but after it starts growing back it's coming out thicker and fuller. I guess its just a little thing we have to pay to to achieve our goals. Hang in there. It won't be long til your hair loss will stop. Take care.

Thank you for answering my question. Even though my doctor told me that my hair would come back, you made me feel much better about it. Thank you.

Default Gabby,

Thanks for the information. I especially like the part about it growing back in thicker and fuller. I'm starting with very thin fine hair and have yet to loose any more than normal (I'm only three weeks post op). I am prepared though.

Smile Kim

Kim,

I too started off with very thin fine hair and am losing some but not too worried about it. Not everyone's grows back thicker and fuller. I like my thin hair and would be happy if it stays that way. My shower walls can look like my fiance's chest by the end of the shower but it's all good.

No bald spots yet, and I doubt I will have that problem but I am prepared to change my hairstyle in case I need to. Just can't cut it before the wedding.. short anyway.. hehe

Cathi,
I am having the same problem and have lost a lot of hair it is coming out in clumps. It is really thin now and I would like to know if you have tried anything to keep it from falling out. I am going to try some strengthing shampoo and a friend of mine told me extra protein helped. Have been doing a protein drink for a couple of days will see what happens.

From what I understand, there's nothing you can do to prevent the loss. It either happens to you or it doesn't. Don't waste your money.

Unhappy Sorry...

I can safely say that nothing really helps with the hair loss. I've tried a lot of stuff and none of them have worked. So, if you're going to go out there and buy something, make sure it's not one of these:

Mega Hair supplement from Henry's
NourisHair supplement from GNC
Phytocyane Revitalizing Lotion (Phytologie)
Phytopolleine Scalp Treatment (Phytologie)
Progaine Shampoo, Conditioner, and Mousse

I lost about 30% of my hair last year from stress, and it was just starting to grow back right about the time that I entered the dictation pile... yes, it was a huge bummer! Anyway, it is definitely thinning, but I feel so good everywhere else, that I've finally given up on the search for the magic pill to make it better. I figure that I've probably got another month or so of hair loss, then I will probably start to look like I have an afro!

My hair has been coming out for a little while now. I'm about 4 1/2 months post op. I'm noticing it thinning and my daughter even commented on being able to notice. I have fine thin hair anyway. I'm starting to fret. How long does the loss usually last? Any ideas? Is there a timeframe post op that it happens more often?
