Restless Legs
Has anyone experienced restless leg syndrome since surgery? I never had and problems with this in the past, but since the surgery it has become a problem ONLY when I am trying to go to bed at night! Sometimes its even a problem with my arms! Is this normal? Any ideas to minimize the discomfort?

I have Restless Leg syndrome PRE-OP and it sucks! I'm with ya girlfriend. There is a drug called Re-Quip, supposed to work for Resless Leg Syndrome. I have not tried it yet though. Talk to your Dr. Best of luck with that, it is difficult to live with.

Cramping in Legs
Tatiana:
Some people have reported problems with their legs while sleeping. It could be cramping caused by vitamin deficiency or dehydration. Are you drinking enough and taking all of your supplements? Just something to consider...

I had it mildly pre-op and it's gotten way worse since. It was so bad one night, my sister and I were at the movies and I had to spend a good portion of the movie standing near the exit aisle just so I could be comfortable.

Every morning and periodically throughout the night, I wake up with either tingling in my arms/hands or they are dead. (Totally numb) is this what you are talking about? I never had this presurgery...weird.

I only experienced it a couple of months post-op. Drove me crazy. Me and Jason would be in public and I would be fanning at my legs or rubbing them all the time. I think once I got on track with my vitamins everything was fine, it went away. I am sure everyone is different when it comes to RLS.

According to my sleep study I had it but I never noticed it at all. Talk to your doc about it.

OMG, I have it so bad. I literally shake myself to sleep. The only thing that helps so far is I take the Lortab and when I start to feel my body relaxing I go to sleep. I did have it before the surgery, but I noticed lately it is every night. I have it during the day too. Actually all the time. Sometimes my husband and I will be sitting on the sofa and I will be twitching, and he will say "do you realize your doing that." I often don't realize it until I have been doing it for a while. I also have 3 ruptured discs in my lower back that will spaz at times. I have learned that when my back is spazing out I need to walk it off, and then I can usually go back to sleep. I toss and turn all night long. It has caused a few mid-night arguements when the hubby jumps out of bed and runs to the sofa because I interupt his sleep

Didn't know so many had this problem
Hi people, I have restless leg syndrome, and it was officially diagnosed in my sleep study. My ex told me that my leg twitching would wake them up because I would actually kick in my sleep. So I do hear ya on the problem.
Has it gotten worse since surgery, don't think so. However I have the numbness of feet, and hands. Suzy
