Hi Cathy,

They took my ONE drain out while I was in the hospital. It was in my stomach but closer to my side and he just pulled it out..Sounds nasty doesn't it? But the pain was minor for me and only lasted a second or so. It just felt like a quick tug and maybe a little pressure. But for me it was no bid deal. I sure hope everything goes well for you today!

It is more of a weird feeling than pain really. It does hurt a bit but it is so worth it to have those icky things out of you! You can feel every bit of them come out and you may have a burning sensation and I had a slight back ache after (nurse told me to expect that). Take a pain pill about an hour before your appt. (that is what I was told to do) and you'll be fine. I was terrified about it but it was really nothing!

I equated the pain to a quick rapid punch in the stomach and by the time you were done exhaling, the pain was gone. No worries!

If you're concerned about pain, you can take a dose of pain med about 20 minutes before to take the edge off. It wasn't painful for me, but it does give you the willies!

It was not painful for me, but I could feel the tube wrapped around organs and is was wiggly and squirmy for me as well. It is over in 2 seconds. It was more funny for me to have the weird feeling.
