From what I have read and was told, that is a normal amount. I was told we should aim for 1000-1200 calories per day. I wouldn't worry about the amount as long as you eat healthy and follow the rules.

When was your surgery? Mine was a little over 3 months ago.......I'm about the same distance out as you.
