Default Protein Calculatin Question

Hi all...

I know we all talk about ideas for protein, and as a pre-opper, I have gleaned so much from all of your experiences. I am confused about something: How, exactly do you calculate how many grams of protien you are actually ingesting? I mean, if a normal serving is 8 oz with 15 grams of protein, and you have a couple of bites/sips, how do you know exactly how much protein is in those tiny bites/sips? Or do you sort of make that 8 oz. last all day to be able to count it as 15 grams?

Sorry to be such a ditz, but I have been wondering this for a little while, and I know you all know the answer

Thanks, as always for your help!

I too was wondering the same thing. I was planning on taking the full size of the portion, looking at how much I eat and then estimating the amount of protein. I have been looking up the protein content in many foods and find the same food item with a wide variety of protein levels, so I would think that most of the time we won't be able to narrow it down too much

Grams of protein / ounces of serving
So 15/8 = 1.875 grams of protein per ounce. If you want to be exact, then you will have to measure your serving size on a food scale.

I want a food scale for Christmas!

You just take a look at the serving size, measure out how many ounces you intend to eat and then do the math! It isnt as complicated as it look preoperstively, you gals will get a handle on it without a problem!

Thanks Bridget, John, and Lisa. We pre-oppers will be pros soon. I saw the dietician today and got some pretty good pre-op tips. I am going to start practicing today...

Default Counting? Calculating?

I don't count anything. It is much easier that way.
