Default Uneventful Surgery stay

Here is how everything went for me in the hospital. I arrived at 11:15 am on Tuesday and changed into my gown. By 11:30 I was having an IV put in an on a gurney. I remember going back to the operating room, having some vitals taken, and having my arms put out to the side. THen I woke up in the recovery room with a nurse next to me asking if I had pain. The pain was actually very slight for me. More of a gassy fullness. I kept telling her that I did not need anything for the pain until she had me breathe deep. Filling up my lungs with air hurt the most. I got a shot of medication in my IV and talked to her for awhile. I remember that I kept talking about my cute doctor and then he came in. She reminded me about this later. I got to my own room about 4:00 p.m. and had a catheter, IV, and JP drain in me. They did not have my morphine pump ordered so that took about another hour for that to get hooked up. Again, not much pain for me. I kept rating my pain a 4 on a scale form 1-10. They brought me my pain pump and said that it was set to release so much every 6 minutes. The problem was that when I did use it, I got so tired. I hade to get up and walk by 7:00 p.m. so I used it several times before then becasue I did not know how much pain I would be in when I had to walk. Unfortunatly my neighbor brought my girls to visit about 6:45 and I was pretty loopy. I got up an walked a little and then layed back down for the night. I remember using the pump about 4 times throghout the night and again it was mostly after using the breathing thing for my lungs. The next morning they took out the catheter and took me off the morphine pump about 8:00 a.m. I got served breakfast: 1 ounce broth, 1 ounce jello, and 1 ounce of crystal light. The same was served for lunch and dinner. I urinated on my own by 11 a.m. and remember about the walking to release the gas. I walked a lot in the hospital. I was given Loritab for the pain every 4 hours, but I streched them to every 6 hours. The doctor took the drain out on Thursday morning before I left and he said it would drip a lot after I went home but it has not dripped any. I went home on Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. I actually feel great since I have been home. I am not getting in all my liquids, as I am trying to sip a lot and I am finding that I am sipping every second I am awake.I have written everything down. I am walking between neighbor's homes and today might go do a little shopping with some neighbors. I have had great support from my neighbors when I was in the hosptial taking care of my kids and running them to all their activities. I work with 3 women and they drove down from Escondido to visit last night and bring gifts. It is actually nice not having my husband home during this recoevery time. I think he would be so concerned with every move I make or what I am eating and drinking. I have one incision below my breat and three in a row above my belly button which look like they are in a smily face. They are held together with super glue right nowto avoid scarring. They have stickes underneathe the skin. My hole where the drain was is very small and healing great. So far this is all I have to post. I know that surgery is good to be uneventful so I guess I am lucky.

Thank you for your support. Kyrsite has been great. The posts made it seem like she was home alone, but she spent the night at a neighbor's house and stayed home during the day to make sure her puppy did not do anything to the floor or house. She had recently gotten into a fight at school and had a big shiner so I took her out for the two weeks before vacation. She had a lot of school work to do.I tried not to worry her about problems and I think she knew that there might be, so that is why she asked some questions. She has been a big help. She keeps telling me to stop trying to clean up and if I want to go for a walk. I am just amazed that I feel as good as I do.
