Default Is this type of proximal rny normal?

i talked with my surgeon about how mch i was bypassed. he said a total of about 75 cm. he cuts the small intestine about 35 cm down from the stomach and then attatches it about 35 cm down from the pouch for a total of 75 or so before food gets digeted by the juices and enzymes. s this standard? or do most docs cut down 75 cm then reatach 75 cm farther down for a total of 150. i hear a lot of people say they are 75 bypased but i do not know if they are like me or actually have there intestine ut at the 75 cm mark.

thanks

There is a range used depending on how much weight someone has to lose. The longer the limb, the greater the weight loss, but increase in possible complications. It is a risk/benefit that needs to be weighed by the surgeon and each patient individually. Some surgeons make the connection between the pouch and small intestine smaller than others. That makes it more restrictive and greater sense of fullness and greater weight loss, but also a higher chance of stricture and obstruction. Again risk/benefit. If what you have is working...just go with it!!!

thanks for the replies. i just am not sure if i am considered 75 cm bypassed or not, because the 75 is the combination of the 35 and 35 (approx). I would have like to have more bypassed but I have been losing weight well, about a pound a day so I shouldn't complain.
