Thumbs up Skin therapy

Hello all! I am new around here, I had my surgery on Nov. 18th and I am having worries about excess skin once I reach my goal weight. I really don't want to have plastic surgery and I was wondering if anyone knew of a skin therapy or regimen to help the skin elasticity. My weight Pre-op/314 Post-op/294 Goal/180 114 more LBS to go!!!

weird enough a Nurse from the hospital recommended using one of those lotions that says cellulite firming, or skin tightening lotion. She said they work in restoring the elasticity in your skin. I got one of course and have been using it. I am only one week post-op, and have only been using it a couple days, so can't post on any success yet. I got the Dove, Intense Firming Cream.

Deal with it. Its something you are going to have as a result of rapid weightloss. Just moisturize, and exercise (something everyone should do regardless of weight!) and try to stop keep dreading it, its gonna happen no doubt it. Some folks saggy skin isnt so bad, some are worse- just stop thinking about it now. Anyone that tries to sell you anything is a crazy person, NOTHING can help you with regard to the sagginess of your skin. Only your genes have control of that.

Just lovin' yo soon to be saggy self!

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info, I was kinda thinking the same thing about the exercise and lotion. I am more than prepared for the saggy skin I just was trying to see if there was anything that I could to to help out some without surgery. I will probably not have alot of sagginess due to my age and the toning exercises, I am not stressin about it just looking for advice.

Skin is an issue and I think we all are dealing with it in some sort of way. I never thought I would have so much skin sagging and the texture of it changes, too. I don't know of anything that helps aside from having good genes and skin with nice elasticity. I know that I just have a melted candle look or the look of a Sharpei. It is really strange dealing with it psychologically. I know some people have an easier time dealing with it...I personally don't like it, but it sure beats being MO.

Yeah it sure as heck does beat being MO!!! Thanks for the laugh! I guess the best thing to do is to just cross that bridge when I get to it huh? My mother had this surgery a little over 2 years ago and she has some saggy skin but hers isnt too bad. We used to be the same size and I am only about an inch taller so I guess there is some genetic hope there for me!

You are right about your age being an advantage. I lost a LOT of weight in my 20s and my skin went back to normal, pretty much. I could wear a 2 piece even! But after gaining and losing and gaining and losing and gaining and losing (well, you get the picture) my skin has no elasticity left to it.
