Default Crystal Light - "Sunrise"

So I felt as though I've been drinking too much OJ lately and to cut down on my sugar intake, I tried Sunrise by Crystal Light - their version of Orange Juice - and just like all CL flavors it's sf and with little calories. However, this stuff tastes NOTHING like OJ. It tastes awful!!! Has anyone tried it? I've tasted close to all CL flavors (Raspberry Ice and Raspberry Tea being my favorites) but I think they either missed the target on this "Sunrise", or I somehow made it incorrectly. Has anyone else tried it? and what do you think?

Default Matter of taste

I am seriously laughing right now because that is my favorite flavor of crystal light! BUT I do not think it tastes like orange juice, I just really like it. A few people have told me they could not stand that flavor either so I think if you are a big OJ fan it prob. falls short.... LOL

It reminds me more of Tang. I prefer the Ruby Red, but still......it doesn't taste like juice. Can you find the low sugar OJ at a grocery store? I had one right after surgery with no pulp and low sugar. It might have tasted a little different to you, but at least still tasted like OJ. I actually liked it better because it tasted less bitter to me. I think it was a name brand like Tropicana or something. But I'm in Ohio, so we may find different products.

Arrow Crystal Light

Jared:

I can't really remember which one, but I mixed the Crystal Light Sunrise with another flavor to make it more palatable for me.

Another alternative might be to get the low sugar orange juice and sweeten it up with Splenda.

I personally can't tolerate that much citric acid (orange juice) on a regular basis, but I also had major gastric reflux before surgery.

I enjoy CL Sunrise myself. Tastes similar to Tang (which I also enjoy SF). It's so funny how different all our tastes are!

I didn't care for it myself. Was to sweet for me. That and I had a horrible time keeping it mixed. I would have to stir it before I had some everytime. I love my raspberry ice and pink lemonade myself.

Jared, your a martian! lol

I love Sunrise, its one of my favs as well. I mix it vanilla protein powder, and blend it with ice and it reminds me of Orange Julius. (Fruit Smoothie) Sometimes I add a banana as well. I LOVE it!

Jared, I like the sunrise stuff. But if you want some OJ that tastes good and is low in sugar, try the Tropicana light, it only has 10 grams of sugar per serving, and I think it tastes great.

In maintenance... now I'm yo-yoing up and down 10 lbs or so. I'm trying to find out how to stay at a set weight, it's rough.

ha ha ha.. I didn't realize it was such a favorite around here. And I'm gonna try that mixture, Bridget.

That must be the one I had. And Dara, it tasted less acidic to me......which I liked better too. I bet it would be good with vanilla protein as a smoothie. Bridget, did you ever try Ruby Red with the vanilla? I'm trying to decide how weird that might be! lol I'm doing well with my hot chocolate with protein right now though, it's cole here in Ohio.
