Hi, I'm Tami. Just had surgery on 14 Nov 05. Doing well, protein fine (I really like the whey pro protein in chocolate, strawberry & banana scream). Got the urge to chew something today so I ate a string cheese stick (have I committed a cardinal sin?), no nausea. Can I go ahead & start my soft diet maybe just for my meal in the morning? I look forward to sharing my journey with all of you. I don't know how to get my weight & goal but I started at 228, now weigh 215, want to weigh 130. Have an awesome & supportive hubby and two beautiful grown, supportive daughters. Happy Thanksgiving!
Blessings,
Tami

Welcome Tami! Great to have you here! I know the liquid and soft food stages seem like they will never end but it is important you follow your docs orders. There is a reason for it! If you need to chew something, get a pack of s/f gum and chew it. I look forward to your future posts! Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

Hello Tami;
I'm Nate and I just had surgery 11 Nov 05. I had my procedure done at the Barix Clinic in Pa. and I have had no problems to date. I started at 360, now at 332 and hoping to get to 175. I am generally not one for talking about my experiences but my wife feels that it is important for me to share my feelings with others who have had this surgery so, here I am. I am glad to hear that you are doing well and looking forward to communicating with you and other members throughout this journey.

Regards,
Nate

Hi Nate!
Glad to hear you are doing well and WOW, almost 30 pounds lost! Good for you! I've only lost 13 pounds to date but not complaining and I drop a little each day...more than that, I'm already losing inches. Congratulations to you and your wife, this is a new beginning for all of us!
Blessings,
Tami

I was told by my Dr not to chew gum at all. I have my first follow-up on Monday & I can legally start my soft diet on Sunday...I'll make it. Thanks for the info!

Welcome Nate! Glad you are here! Sorry about the gum advice! I know it helped me out early on and it's gotta be better than actually eating something you aren't suppose to eat.

Hi tami and nate...welcome to the forum family! I am glad to hear that you are both doing so well! This is a great place, Nate to share and seek advise from those who have gone before. My surgeon thinks I am strange because I don't have many questions for him because they are usually answered right here in this forum! Whatever you read here, however, please remember that each doc is different, and if your doc tells you to do something, it is best to heed his or her advise as they know what is best for you.

Best of luck to you both, and I look forward to getting to know you better in this forum...

LOL.........are those tracks in the dirt actual heel marks? I'm just kidding. Welcome to the board. We are kinda crazy on here at times. You have a very smart and caring wife there. Tell her she is welcome to post also. We don't have too many friends and family on here posting, but would welcome them. It would help her to understand some of your feelings, thoughts, needs, etc as you go along your journey. You will learn a lot here. Congrats on your successful surgery and on your weight loss.
